october 12th 2016, 5 days since last chapter
days were long, minutes felt like hours, all that.
there was a certain tension brewing in the dorms. not between jennie and lisa, they'd had tension from day one. but rosie seemed sad around jisoo lately.
they still slept in the same bed, as far as lisa knew. she didn't know if they fought, but they'd been... unusual recently.
most of the tension revolves around their comeback.
teddy and the girls still haven't come up with a second song, and time is ticking.
ticking.
tick.
tick.
the clock repeats itself annoying on the studio wall in darkness, as rosé stares at it with directionless anger.
be quiet. i don't need a reminder that my life is timed.
she groans for what feels like the seventh time this past half hour, slamming her forehead down on the desk, as jennie sighs across the table, as this is not the first time today the redhead has done that.
"maybe actually pick up a guitar?" jennie replies tentatively, careful not to enrage the younger girl as she lifts her head up, glaring at the brunette.
"i would, but my fingers hurt. when i was a kid, words just used to come to me! melodies used to just appear in my head!" rosie complains, clicking open a new track on the computer, as teddy watches with great curiosity from across the room, arms crossed.
"maybe try feeding your brain some emotions? something that's bothering you?" he suggests, leaning forward in his chair and eying the computer screen as rosie lays down a chord progression, and without words, clicks the record track, quickly stepping into the recording booth, pulling the mic to her mouth and singing monotonously.
"we don't have a song, because everything i write is wrong, we really don't have all that long, this studio has a horrible pong." she recites emotionlessly, pulling the headphones off her head as jennie sniggers, and teddy rolls his eyes.
"you can do better than that. jennie? any ideas?"
the brunette racks her brain for any lyrics that don't revolve around lisa.
yg explained the song must be meaningful and calm, so it's much harder than usual. no more PANG PANG RUM PARA PARA PUM WHI PADAM PADAM PADAM.
"sorry, teddy. nothing. i can feel it in the back of my brain though, it's brewing. i think if i try and pick up a guitar, it might help. maybe rosie should try that." she jokes, and the redhead rolls her eyes, slinging her bag over her shoulder.
"okay, i trust you. we've ont got 5 more days til it needs to be in though. try and get that brain if yours to speed up. have a good week, guys."
"i will. bye."
—————-"what on earth are you doing with chaeyoung's guitar?"
jennie looks up guiltily, surprised at my presence in the living room, given i've either been at the studio or sleeping this past week.
"we need a song, so i'm learning how to play guitar." she replies like it's common knowledge.
"i think you might need some lessons, jen. you can't just pick up a guitar..." i reply coyly, plunking myself down on the couch as i watch her trail her fingers over the fretboard.
"oh yeah? watch this." she shoots back confidently, moving her fingers to play a "g" chord.
it rings out through the room, out of tone, and twangy.
