___
Got too quiet, now they're whispering
If you blink, then you might miss it, every hour is a week
I don't need sympathetics, I just need some room to breathe
___
"Tell me what you see." Raven says over the earpiece.
"Close your eyes and imagine a bottomless pit." Bellamy mumbles.
"Just stick with it. According to Dante's coordinates, you're almost there."
Skye climbs in the narrow pathway after Bellamy.
"Don't look down." He tells her.
They have a long way to go before they reach the top of the ladder they now hold onto.
"What's happening there? Did they evacuate Tondc?" Skye asks.
She grabs onto each rod of the ladder, praying that her sweaty hands don't make her slip.
"Don't know yet. But it's Clarke, I'm sure she can get it done." Raven says.
"Let's hope so." Bellamy says, still climbing.
"Just concentrate on squeezing your asses through the vents. Stop worrying about your sister."
Skye pauses at that. Bellamy does too.
"Octavia's in Tondc..." Skye mutters, hoping it isn't true.
"She's there?" Bellamy asks, his heart sinking. "Raven."
The radio crackles. "She's gonna be okay. Clarke fired out of here, she's gonna get there on time."
"How could you keep this from me?" Bellamy asks.
"Clarke was trying to protect you."
Bellamy scoffs, lifting his head.
"Listen, you still have a job to do. I know you're worried about Octavia, but you have to focus."
"Bell." Skye says gently.
He relaxes slightly at her voice. "Let's just get this done."
___
"You gotta pull the outside air in the reverse the air-filtration system." Raven directs them.
Bellamy pulls a wire, and it sparks. He sighs. "Just tell me how we know if it's even working."
Suddenly an alarm echoes above the loudspeaker. A woman's voice is heard. "Containment breach."
Skye looks up. "I'd say it's working."
Bellamy smirks at that. "Thank you, Mr. President."
___
All hell broke loose.
After the containment breach on level five, as directed by Dante, Dr. Tsing and several others were killed from radiation.
Jasper, Monty, Miller, and Harper took the level, securing all of the remaining Sky People in a locked and guarded room.
Cage issued a raid on them, breaking in. Jasper and his group managed to kill a few more soldiers but not without losing one of their own. Fox.
She was taken by some soldiers and is now being led to the new lab.
Bellamy and Skye don't waste any time. They grab weapons and follow closely behind the guards, remaining unseen.
They're down the hall from the lab, hearing clashing and shouting. Fox is putting up a fight.
The girl rushes for the door when suddenly she gets blocked by two soldiers in armor, holding guns.
It's Skye and Bellamy.
He shoots one of the guards and Skye shoots the other. They take off their helmets and goggles and Fox practically knocks them over in a hug, crying out their names.
Maya enters the room moments later. "Come on. We have to get her someplace safe."
Skye and Maya help Fox while Bellamy shuts the door to the lab, leaving behind the two dead bodies.
Maya leads the three of them down several halls before arriving at her house.
She pauses in the doorway, spotting a man lying on the couch. "Dad, you're home."
"Yeah." He groans, sitting up. He was clearly just asleep. "Drill bit broke again."
Maya walks inside, Fox, Skye, and Bellamy following right behind her.
He rubs his eyes, quickly standing up when he sees them. Skye shuts the door.
Maya's father backs away. "What are they doing here?"
"Look, they're in trouble. We just need someplace safe to stay." Maya says, holding her arms out.
"They need to go, now."
"Let me explain." She says quietly.
"Explain where you got those uniforms." He says, glancing at both Bellamy and Skye. He looks back at his daughter. "Maya, you know how dangerous this is. What are you doing?"
"What mom would've done."
He doesn't say anything for a second. He turns to the three Outsiders. "I need you to leave."
"Sorry, we can't do that." Bellamy says.
Maya speaks, not looking away from her dad. "That's okay. He's gonna help us."
Bellamy raises an eyebrow. "Really? Because I'm not getting that."
Maya looks at them now. "My parents were part of a movement that was against using Outsider blood. My mom refused the treatments, and it killed her. She was willing to die for what she believed in."
The man lowers his voice, sadly. "Maya, you were five. I couldn't leave you alone."
"I'm not a little girl anymore."
"They were willing to kill you before. If you get caught-"
"We won't if you help us." Skye says.
"Please." Fox says sniffling. "They're killing us. We don't have anywhere else to go."
He is quiet, silently debating in his head. He sighs. "Just this once. Just for one night."
Maya smiles. She leads Fox to another room. "Bedroom's this way."
Skye holds out her hand to the man. "Thank you."
He shakes it, looking in her icy eyes as he speaks. "You know they'll never stop, right?"
She blinks.
"If the rumors are true and your bone marrow can get us back to the ground, they'll never stop."
She nods at him, turning and following after Maya. Bellamy is right on her tail.
Out of sight, Bellamy grabs Skye's hand, turning her around to face him. "Skye..." He says gently.
She blinks away tears. "We can't win, Bell."
"You don't know that." He speaks.
She shakes her head. "He's right. They're always gonna be after us. They're always gonna keep searching. We. Can't. Win."
He places his hands on either side of her face. "We will find a way."
"This only ends one way, and you know it." She says.
He swallows the little saliva in his mouth.
She doesn't need to say it for him to know.
It ends with them killing everybody in the mountain.
