It was an early Saturday morning. Saw had gotten up and out of bed, and was starting to get ready for the day. Usually, Gaty would be out of bed, and downstairs helping out the kids. However, when Saw was finished getting ready, she noticed Gaty was still in bed.
Saw was about to leave, to let her get some rest, but then, she heard her mumble.
"Saw?" She groaned.
Saw smiled, happy to see that Gaty had gotten up, "Hey, someone slept in! It's been quite the week, hasn't it?"
Gaty, however, felt like she didn't have any energy, and slowly turned over in bed, her face pale. "Yeah... it's been a long week," she mumbled, her voice weak.
Saw's smile faded as she approached the bed, her eyes narrowing with concern. "Are you feeling okay?" She placed a hand on Gaty's forehead, noticing it was warmer than usual.
"I don't know," Gaty admitted. "I just feel... really tired, and my head is pounding." She shifted in bed, clearly uncomfortable.
Saw sighed, knowing that Gaty doesn't go down very easily, "I think you might be getting sick, Gates."
Gaty did not like hearing that response, especially since she promised Bladey that she'd play outside with her. However, she couldn't deny the inevitable, "...I think you're right," Gaty said reluctantly, sinking further into the pillows. "But I promised Bladey I'd spend time with her today."
Saw gave her a soft smile, brushing her hand gently across Gaty's forehead. "Bladey will understand. Your health comes first, and you're no good to anyone if you don't take care of yourself."
Gaty sighed, knowing that Saw was right. "I guess, just don't be surprised if Bladey gets frustrated."
Saw nodded, "I can handle it. You just rest up now, okay?"
Saw left the room, and entered the chaos of breakfast downstairs.
"There you are, Saw." Pin said, "Where in the world is Gaty, it's not like her to sleep in this late."
Saw let out a deep exhale, "She's not feeling good at all today. She definitely has at least a fever if nothing else."
"Dang, Gaty?" Coiny questioned. "I don't even remember the last time she got sick!"
"Neither can I," Saw said, "But she's down at least until tomorrow. I told her to get some rest!"
"Nooo!" Bladey cried out, "Mommy said we were gonna play outside today!"
"I know sweetheart," Saw said, sympathy in her voice, "But mommy's sick right now, maybe another day."
Bladey, however, was not having it, "But Mommy said today!" she said, slamming her hands on the table.
"Bladey," Saw said, keeping her composure, "I know you're upset, but Mommy really needs to rest up today. Would you like someone telling you to play outside if you were sick."
Bladey sighed, "I guess not."
"Good," Saw said.
Bladey, however, still wasn't happy that her mother couldn't play with her. She wanted her better, right then and there. As soon as she was done eating her breakfast, she ran downstairs. After looking around, she finally found it; a toy doctors kit that was gifted to the kids by Barf Bag for Christmas a year or two ago.
Without hesitation, she put on the lab coat, grabbed everything she needed from that doctor's kit, and marched back upstairs.
The minute Barf Bag saw Bladey, she couldn't help but chuckle a little bit, "What are you doing, sweet girl?"
