As time went on, Flare and Thread became closer and closer friends, thanks to the help of Saw. The two of them not only continued to color with each other daily at recess, but they also continued to work together inside the classroom whenever they would get the chance.

Eventually, Saw decided that it would be a good idea for them to find a way to hang out outside of school. So, she talked to Coiny, Pin, and Needle about possibly setting up a playdate for the two girls.

"I think it's a wonderful idea," Pin said enthusiastically. "They're such good friends already; it would be great for them to spend more time together."

Coiny nodded in agreement. "Plus, it's a good opportunity for us parents to get to know each other better too."

Needle added in, "Speaking of which, who are this girls parents? You never mentioned them to us?"

That's what made this playdate difficult for them to possibly have. While Saw wasn't too familiar about what happened during the earlier seasons of BFDI, she did know that the throuple didn't have the best history with Flares parents. Saw tried not to bring up the subject of her parents up, but she knew in order for those two girls to hang out after school, they did need to know her parents.

Saw hesitated for a little bit, "Uhhh...does it really matter who they are? I mean, all the matters is that the girls are good friends, righ-"

"Spit it out, Saw," Pin said, "I can tell you're hiding something from us.

Saw sighed, "Flare's last name...is Spark."

Needle thought about it, then it made sense, "Wait...as in Match Spark...and Pencil?"

"OH HELL NO!" Coiny shouted, "Our Thread is not stepping a foot near those two!"

Pin grabbed Coiny's hand to try and calm him down, "Coiny, it's been years, we need to get over it, Thread seems like great friends with this girl, we have to give those two another chance!"

Coiny's Face grew visibly red, "I will never, NEVER forgive those two of what they did to you."

Pin sighed, feeling the tension rising. "Coiny, I know it was hard. But holding onto that anger isn't going to help anyone, especially not Thread and Flare."

Saw felt caught in the middle, not wanting to escalate the situation but also understanding Coiny's frustration. "I get it, Coiny," she said gently. "But Flare is not her parents. She's her own person, and she and Thread have really hit it off."

Needle nodded in agreement. "We all want what's best for our kids. Maybe this could be a step towards healing old wounds, even if it's just for their sake."

Coiny shook his head, his face still flushed with anger. "You don't understand. Those two and that mother fuckin alliance. It wasn't even as much Match, she was eliminated by then, but still, I don't ever want to associate with that fuckin team."

"Coiny," Needle interjected, "Freesmart is long gone, Match and Pencil are different people now, and I don't think the rest of the alliance would ever do such a thing after that fiasco."

"You don't understand," Coiny took a hold of Pin and Needles hands, "They took you girls away from me, in different ways sure, but Pin...I don't know about you, but it was impossible for me to get over that team stripping you of everything. And Needle...they turned you into a different person. I thought I had lost you two," Coiny tried to hold back his tears, but they kept flowing out, "I didn't think I was going to see you guys in the same way ever again."

Pin's heart ached seeing Coiny's tears, the raw pain of their shared past coming to the surface. She squeezed his hand, her own eyes misting up. "Coiny, I know. I remember it all too well. But we can't let our past define our children's future. They deserve better."
