After discussing the possibility of going back to their honeymoon location, Pin, Coiny, and Needle got the rest of the adults on board with the idea. Soon afterwords, they booked three separate rooms, one for each family, since it was impossible to book a room that could fit all twelve of them.
Barf Bag was handing out the pancakes that Pin had made for the kids that morning. "Are you two excited for winter vacation next week?" She asked them.
All five of the kids nodded. "Skiing looks like so much fun!" Sprinkle exclaimed. "I can't wait to try it out!"
Dimey agreed with him. "I wonder how fast I'll be able to go on skis?"
"Probably not as fast as me!" Sprinkle said.
Dimey put his hands on his hips, wanting to challenge his cousin. "I bet I can!"
"Boys!" Coiny exclaimed. "Sorry to ruin the fun, but I don't think anyone is racing each other on this trip since it will be your first time skiing. One of you guys could get injured!"
"Awwwww." Dimey and Sprinkle said in unison.
"I don't know if I want to ski." Sack said shyly. "I just want to drink the hot chocolate!"
Pin couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. "That's what I did the last time we all went, trust me, I didn't mind!"
"And missed out on all the skiing?" Thread asked. "Why would you do that? If I had the chance to go skiing, I centainly would!"
Pin wrapped her arm around Thread. "It was because you were still growing in my tummy!"
Thread looked up at Pin, eyes wide with surprise. "Wait, I was with you when you went there before?"
Pin smiled and nodded. "Yep, that's why I couldn't ski during our honeymoon. You were kicking up a storm in there! So I spent most of the time at the spa and drinking hot chocolate while everyone else was on the slopes."
"Well, you'll get to ski this time at least!" Thread said, before looking down at her wheelchair. "I wish I could go to."
"I promise we'll get you on the hill one day." Needle said. "It's just going to be a little hard to navigate the adaptive skiing programs in the little time we have at the resort."
Coiny came over to Thread and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Besides, you're Thread Copper, I'm sure you're gonna have fun on this trip anyways!"
Thread faintly smiled. Bladey, noticing Thread's disappointment in not being able to ski, tried to cheer her up. "My moms said they had an ice rink there, maybe we can figure out a way to have you ice skate."
"How?" Thread said, her eyes starting to light up.
Bladey thought for a minute. "We can put giant blades on your wheelchair and I can push you around!"
Saw smiled, impressed by her daughter's creativity. "I'm sure something similar to that exists somewhere!"
Donut chimed in, "If anyone can find a way to get you on the ice, it's us. We're gonna make it happen Thread!"
Thread's smile widened, her earlier disappointment quickly turning into excitement. "I'd love to try it out. I never thought about ice skating before, but it sounds like so much fun!"
"Way to be positive, Thread!" Gaty said.
The team continued to eat away at the pancakes, all enjoyed them to bits, well, for the most part.
"Why is the pancake dry?" Sack asked angrily, looking at his plain pancake.
"Because," Donut said, "You didn't add any maple syrup to it silly!" Donut reached out to the middle of the table, and grabbed the jug of pure maple syrup, showing it to Sack."
"No!" Sack said sternly. "That looks yucky!"
"Come on buddy!" Barf Bag said nicely. "Maple syrup is good, you can't knock it until you try it!" Barf Bag poured a small amount of maple syrup on the side of Sack's plate, right next to where his pancakes were.
Sack hesitated, but decided to give it a shot. "Okay, I guess I'll try it." He grabbed a peice of his pancake with his fork, dipped it into the maple syrup, and took a nice big bit.
The whole table looked at him, curious to see what he thought of it. "So," Needle said softly, "what do you think?"
Sack went still, he couldn't believe how good the maple syrup was. "MORE!" He demanded, as he started pouring the maple syrup right onto the pancake.
"Take it easy, buddy!" Donut warned him. "It's not good to have too much!"
"Oh." Barf Bag softly whispered to herself, but loud enough so that the table could hear. "That's why I had that weird maple syrup craving when I was pregnant."
"Oh," Donut said, raising an eyebrow, "That. You drank an unhealthy amount of that stuff, you literally wouldn't get any liquid in you otherwise!."
"Well don't blame me!" Barf Bag said, looking over at Sack, who was enjoying every last drop of maple syrup left on his plate.
Barf Bag reached over and grabbed the plate from Sack before he went crazy with the syrup. "I think that's enough for today buddy."
"No!" Sack insisted. "I want more!"
"I know," Barf Bag placed a hand on his shoulder, "But it's not good to have too much!"
"Yeah." Pin muttered to herself. "Or else you're gonna start experiencing some other pregnancy symptoms."
Sack tilted his head, "What do you mean?"
Saw couldn't help but chuckle. "What Auntie Pin means is that you could get sick, and that is not fun at all, trust me."
Sack frowned, clearly not thrilled at the idea of getting sick. "But it tastes so good..." he mumbled, crossing his arms.
Barf Bag patted his shoulder, her tone gentle but firm. "It does, but too much of a good thing can make you feel bad. Let's save the rest for tomorrow, okay?"
Sack sighed but nodded, realizing that arguing wasn't going to get him anywhere. "Okay..."
The table fell into a comfortable rhythm as everyone finished their breakfast. Pin stood up to start gathering the plates, and the rest of the adults followed suit, helping with the cleanup.
With breakfast done, they all knew that this upcoming trip was going to be one to remember.
