Bigger Trouble

Jackie was now taking a stroll by a beautiful seashore in Anywhere.

"Oh, Jeremy... perhaps our breakup was my fault" she sighed. "And now... I'll probably never know. I wish you'd given me another chance."

She continued on the shore.

"As I walk this place... I feel as if I'm on the same beach you used to take me for strolls on."

She started to sadly sing to herself.

Strange how my heart beats

To find myself upon your shore

Strange how I still feel

My loss of comfort gone before

Cool waves wash over

And drift away with dreams of you

So time is stolen

I cannot hold you long enough

And so this is where I should be now

Days and nights falling by

Days and nights falling by me

I know of a dream I should be holding

Days and nights falling by

Days and nights falling by me

Soft blue horizons

Reach far into my childhood days

As you are rising

To bring me my forgotten ways

Paul was walking by when he heard the singing.

He approached the girl by the water.

"Jackie, I'd like a word with you" he said.

Jackie looked at him with a hopeful face. "Of course. Say anything."

Paul took her hand. "Please... understand how I'm feeling right now."

Jackie nodded.

"I know it's sudden, but I simply must" said Paul.

Jackie recoiled. "You're proposing? That is rather sudden."

"Yes it is, but I'm..." Paul began.

"Yes, yes, a thousand times yes!" Jackie squealed.

She rushed away from the shore. "I can't believe it's finally happened! I knew you'd forgive me!"

"Jackie..." Paul began.

"I must go spread the news! The girls will be so happy!" said Jackie.

But before Paul could respond, she was gone.

He took a look at the shore himself and sang a few bars.

Strange how I falter

To find I'm standing in deep water

Strange how my heart beats

To find I'm standing on your shore

He collapsed to his knees and cried into his hands.

"I'm going to be in so much trouble" he sobbed.

He put his hand on the sand and pondered how this whole thing would turn out.

None of the results that came to mind were good.

All Paul could think about was how flustered Jeremy would be if he saw his cousin married to his ex.

"I must inform Calvin. He'll know what to do" said Paul.
