Karlie's P.O.V
"Taylor, we have to go. It's almost 10.00am they said she could leave at 9.45am!" I yell upstairs to Taylor who's been talking to her mom since 9.00am. But like the loving fiancé I am I let her talk and talk and talk. "Okay I'm coming. Hold up." I smiled at her appearance. Firm tight fitting jeans, a well-worn genius sweater, her ankle boots and a cute beanie on her head. She was carrying a diaper bag as well. "Babe, I think the diaper bag sets off the whole outfit." I laugh as she looks at me and grins. "Me too Karlie." Pulling her in for a kiss we part and she looks at me. "What was that for?" I smile and look down at her. "Just because I love you and I can't believe that we adopted our daughter yesterday and she is coming home today. I'm so excited." She laughed at me and dragged me to the elevator so we could ride down to the lobby, waiting outside were no paparazzi which shocked me but then Taylor's phone rang. She looked at it and answered it. "Hey Tree...yeah we were wondering about that. You did? Wow thank-you. Call you later." I watched her in amazement as she handled it as soon as she got off the phone she said, "Tree paid paparazzi to stay away until this afternoon. Gives us heaps of time. Same at the hospital." I smiled and looped my arm around her waist.
"That sounds perfect." For once I actually enjoyed being able to walk out of our apartment building without having a camera shoved in my face, it felt almost normal. "Feels weird right?" Taylor questioned from beside me as I nodded. "Yeah, you think so too." She nodded and got inside the waiting SUV that had the car seat set up inside. I climbed in after her and the sight of the car seat made me smile and then I remembered 'we are getting our baby today.' The excitement peaked all over again and by the time we got to the hospital we were so jumpy and full of excitement. Rushing towards the nursery part our nurse Jo handed Alison to Taylor as I finished off the paperwork and signed the parental part of the discharge papers. It was all finalised and felt amazing.Things certainly turned to custard after we left the hospital. We arrived back at the apartment at 11.16am and paparazzi were there in boatloads. Taylor looked at me and said in a fearful voice. "What do we do Karlie, I'm not exposing her right now." I looked at the sleeping Alison or Allie as we called her and nodded my head agreeing with her. Taylor told security to drive around the block and she called Tree, putting her on speaker phone we all talked. "Hey Taylor...you guys home yet?" she asked when she answered, it was clear she had no idea. "No we aren't Tree." Taylor snapped as I placed my hand on her knee whilst looking at Allie. "Why not is something wrong?" she questioned as I talked. "No Tree, paparazzi are back outside the apartment. What do we do?" I questioned while Taylor rested her head on my shoulder. I knew she was tired of all of this stuff, the paparazzi but we didn't have a choice while we lived here in New York. But as much as we wanted to move, we couldn't. We would be constantly travelling back here and at the moment it makes sense to be in New York but raising our daughter here will be tough. "Do you guys just want to make a break for it inside?" Paul asks from the front. We both look up. "We can get you inside no problems. It just may be a little unconventional..." he states scratching his head. We both nod and Tree says, "Do whatever's necessary Paul." He nods and I thank Tree as Paul calls Mike and Karl to meet us at the backdoor. Not many know about the backdoor but we can access it thorough the alleyway behind the apartment block. We know we have to move fast so Taylor sits cradling Allie so that once I'm out she can hand her to me and I can walk two steps to the door and Karl will have it open. Reaching the backdoor Karl meets us, the complex door is open and I get out, receive Allie and walk inside to safety Taylor is right behind me with the diaper bag. I cradle Allie who has woken up as her small fist darts out. "Hi baby." Taylor coos as Allie moves towards her voice. "Karlie, did you see that?" I laugh and nod as we head towards the elevator to take us back upstairs to our apartment.
Walking inside feels surreal, I never expected to ever bring a child home before I got married but watching Taylor walk Allie around showing her everything it warms my heart and I'm suddenly excited again. Excited for my future with Taylor and Allie and excited to see what comes next. While I'm having my little day dream I observe everything until Taylor breaks it. "Karlie come here." I walk towards her voice in the kitchen where we have set up a secondary crib because the nursery is upstairs near our room and during the day we are usually down here so it makes sense to have one for in here when we bake. But what I see inside the kitchen is Taylor standing over the crib while Allie squirms inside. "Babe, she's probably not tired." I state before looking. She takes my hand and points and I follow and all I see is Allie lying down her head tilting slightly as Olivia sits next to her. "Oh babe they are almost the same size. Poor Olivia." Taylor laughs and Meredith comes around our feet, I pick her up and place her at the foot of the crib. She slowly moves towards Allie and sniffs her but sits back like Olivia, they just watch her and as I go to pick up Meredith she hisses at me. I back away and Taylor laughs. "I guess we aren't allowed to pick them up, they're in protection mode." I laugh and nod in agreement. 'Strange animals.'
