Karlie's P.O.V
My heart was left at the door of the hotel that day and the next fourteen days tried us so hard that I wondered if we could handle life, but something keeps us hanging on together, like we promised we always would be. Getting off the plane in Nashville has mixed feelings. Taylor is anxious to get to the hospital, I'm anxious to change Allie and Allie is just plain tired. "Taylor, here just take her for a minute." She looks at Allie and walks off the plane. It's been like this for the last few days, she has point blank refused to deal with Allie. I don't even remember the last time she fed or changed her. I'm beginning to think that I'm taking on the role of a solo parent. "For god sakes Taylor!" I mutter under my breath as I scoop Allie up and ask Paul politely to get Allie's diaper bag. "Thanks Paul." I state when I get to the SUV where Taylor is already seated. "Hi." I murmur as I settle Allie in her car seat and climb in after. Glancing at Taylor who is staring out the window I remind myself that she has been through a lot in the past fourteen days. "Where too ladies?" Paul questions from the driver's seat. "Home." I state as Taylor says,
"Hospital." My head flicks around and looks at her,
"What?" I question. "We agreed to go home, change and then go to the hospital." I state looking at Taylor. She shrugs and says, "I want to see my mom now. Not in an hour's time Karlie." I go to speak but shut my mouth, turning to Paul I say, "Taylor's going to the hospital and ALLIE and I are going home." I say, putting emphasis on Allie, who she has been ignoring. Paul nods and says nothing except announcing that we are at the hospital. I turn and look at Taylor but she quickly hops out of the car and rushes towards the entrance as I sigh and look at Allie. "Where did we go wrong?" I question to her as she looks at me."Karlie..." I hear a voice call. Glancing up I see Paul turned around looking at me.
"Yeah?" I question. "Want me to take you guys home?" I look at Allie then at the bags in the back.
"No take me to the airport again." He looks at me shocked. "Just please..." I beg. He nods and we return to the airport. On arrival he turns to me. "Do you need me to..." I shake my head as he hugs me. "I'm sorry. I've never seen her like this before." I nod and sigh. "Same." Ever since Allie's birthday at the beach in Sydney and since she got the news it's like we don't exist. He nods as I fish in my handbag, finally pulling out a gift. It's wrapped, all ready for Taylor's 26th birthday tomorrow. Paul takes it. "What do you want me to do with it?" I shrug.
"Give it to her, give it to whoever you want. Tree maybe? I don't know but I'm not going to subject Allie to Taylor in her mood. I'll be in New York." He nods and tells me he will let the other bodyguards know to expect us. I thank him before grabbing my handbag, Allie's diaper bag and Allie and booking two tickets to New York. Almost an hour later we are in the air and Allie falls asleep. I'm hoping that Taylor comes to her senses but something tells me she won't.Taylor's P.O.V
Rushing into the hospital at Nashville I walk towards reception. "Hi, what room is Andrea Swift in please?" The nurse hardly looks up before answering.
"Room, 26A" I thank her and move towards the elevators. Taking one to the second floor and walking towards room 6 I stop and see Austin and dad inside. Pausing to take a breath I walk in and say "Hey mom." She turns and looks at me with a wide smile.
"Hi baby," I walk over and she pulls me into a hug. "You didn't fly all night to be here did you?" She questions as I look away. "Oh Taylor, you silly girl and with a baby too." I look at her and say.
"It was fine." She nods but I can see my dad and Austin exchanging glances, but mom doesn't notice. "Where's my grandbaby?" she questions. I stare blankly at her.
"Your what?" she laughs.
"Where's miss Allie and your wife. Where are they Tator-tot?" I blush at the old nickname.
"Uh I think they went home..." I state uncertain, this time mom catches on.
"You think?" she questions looking at me. I nod slowly and stand and sit down. "Oh no you don't missy. You get up right now and you go and see them." My mouth falls open as Austin and dad stare too. "B-but I, you are here. I need to be here too." Mom then laughs, a huge cackle.
"Oh Taylor, I'm fine they are releasing me today. The flare up is gone, my lungs are fine. Go home." I stare at her. "What now?" mom questions.
"I uhm... I think I've been a terrible wife," I state as dad and Austin leave the room. Mom looks at me. "You think?" I nod my head.
"I haven't been spending time with them, I've been focused on the tour and getting home here to you, but I haven't been caring for them." I say softly as mom lays her hand on mine and I look up at her. "Then go and make up for it." A small smile crosses my face as mom smiles too. I stand and make my way downstairs calling Paul to come and get me.
