cw: insecureness
Johnnie is resting his head on Carrington's lap. Reading hate comments he received online.
Carrington noticed this, and frowned. He gently set his phone down and placed his hand on Johnnie's head.
"Hey... what're you reading?"
"Nothing" Johnnie lied as he is scrolling through twitter. Reading all the toxic stuff he's been seeing.
Carrington narrowed his eyes, gently pulling Johnnie's phone away from his hands."Don't lie to me. I can see you scrolling through Twitter."
"Yeah that's all" Johnnie shrugged it off, and tried to grab his phone back. "Babe, c'mon now."
Carrington held the phone away from him, raising an eyebrow."No, you're clearly reading some hate comments. Why are you even looking at them?"
Johnnie didn't say anything this time. He just fully sat up and tried to grab his phone.
Carrington kept his phone out of Johnnie's reach, still looking at him with concern.
"Johnnie, seriously. Stop trying to grab your phone. I don't want you reading those things."Johnnie lightly scoffed as Carrington put the device turned off and on the nightstand next to his own phone.
Carrington sighed and gently took Johnnie's hands into his own, holding them tightly.
"You know those comments don't matter, right baby? They're just trolls who have nothing better to do with their lives."Johnnie shakes his head. Looking down at their hands.
Carrington gently squeezed his hands, tilting his head to try and get Johnnie to look at him."Hey, look at me."
"No, it's ridiculous how you're making a big deal out of it hon." Johnnie replied, avoiding Carrington's gaze.
Carrington gently cupped Johnnie's chin and lifted his head, forcing him to look at him.
"It's not ridiculous, baby. I'm making a big deal out of it because I care about you. Those comments are hurting you, and I don't like seeing you hurt."
"I'm fine!" Johnnie hostiles and pulled his hands away. Crossing his tatted arms, "This is fucking ridiculous, honey. I told you it wasn't a big deal!"
Carrington frowned at his hostility, but didn't let it deter him. He took a deep breath before speaking again, trying to keep his voice calm.
"It is a big deal, Johnnie. You can't just pretend that those comments don't affect you. I know you better than that."
Johnnie looked down. Shaking his head as his eyes glossed a bit, before he blinked a few times.
Carrington noticed the glossiness in his eyes and his heart sank. He reached out and gently placed a hand on Johnnie's shoulder.
"Hey... don't do that. Please don't shut me out. Talk to me.""It's ridiculous.. fucking stupid.." Johnnie covered his face as he shakes his head again. He pulled back and sniffled.
Carrington's expression softened even more as he saw Johnnie start to break down. He scooted closer to him and wrapped his arms around him, pulling him into a tight hug.
"It's not stupid, sweetheart. Your feelings are valid. It's okay to be upset about the comments."
Johnnie returned the hug. "I'm sick of it, but it's not ever gonna stop."
Carrington held him tightly, rubbing his back soothingly. He knew all too well how cruel the internet could be."I know, love. I know it's hard. But you can't let those comments get to you. They're just trying to bring you down, but you're so much better than that."
Johnnie pulled back. Using his shirt to carefully dap his eyes so he doesn't mess up his makeup.
Carrington watched him with a soft expression, gently taking the shirt from him and using his thumb to wipe away a tear that had escaped.
"You're beautiful, you know that? Inside and out. Those people who say otherwise are just jealous of you."
"No, I'm just stupid," Johnnie shakes his head. "I am fucking 27, why the fuck am i letting this shit get to me? so damn ridiculous. i hate it."
Carrington gently took Johnnie's face in his hands, forcing him to look at him."You're not stupid, love. You're one of the smartest, most talented people I know. And it's okay to let things get to you sometimes. You're only human. Don't be so hard on yourself."
Johnnie felt a wave of insecurity wash over him as Carrington spoke. He looked down, avoiding his gaze.
"I just... I feel like I'm not good enough. Like I'll never be good enough. And it sucks, because I'm supposed to be confident and strong, but sometimes I just feel like I'm falling apart."
Carrington listened intently, his heart breaking at Johnnie's words. He gently tilted his chin up, forcing him to look at him again.
"Hey, listen to me. You *are* good enough. You're more than good enough. You're amazing, and talented, and kind, and beautiful. Those comments don't define you. You define yourself, and you're worth so much more than they could ever give you."
"You mean that?" Johnnie asked as a small timid smile rises onto his face.
Carrington smiled back, his eyes filled with love and sincerity."Of course I mean it. I wouldn't lie to you. You're my everything, and I love you more than anything. Those comments don't change that. You're perfect just the way you are, and I wouldn't want you any other way."
Johnnie leaned in and kissed Carrington
Carrington smiled into the kiss, wrapping his arms around Johnnie and pulling him closer. He deepened the kiss, pouring all his love and affection into it.
"Sorry," Johnnie pulled back, "I dont know what got to me. I'm just so stupid-"
Carrington gently cut him off, placing a finger on his lips."Shh, don't say that. You're not stupid. You're human, and it's okay to have moments of insecurity. I'm here for you, no matter what. You don't have to apologize for feeling a certain way."
Johnnie blushes a bit, as he jokingly bites Carrington's finger.
Carrington chuckled, a playful glint in his eyes. He gently pulled his finger away, a smirk on his face."Hey, watch it! You can't just go around biting me like that."
"Yes I can!" Johnnie tackled Carrington and playfully bites his neck.
Carrington let out a surprised yelp as Johnnie tackled him, but he couldn't help but laugh. He wrapped his arms around Johnnie, pulling him closer.
"Okay, okay! You win! But that's gonna leave a mark, you know."
"Noo," Johnnie pulled back. "oh." He notices the small bitemark he left. He started to giggle.
Carrington chuckled as he saw the mark on his neck. He gently touched it, wincing slightly."You little menace. You're lucky I find it cute."
Johnnie giggles as he kissed Carrington's lips. "Thank you for making me cheer up better."
Carrington smiled warmly, returning the kiss.
"Of course, my love. I'll always be here to make you feel better. Just remember, those negative comments don't define you. You're strong and amazing, and I'll remind you of that every day if I have to."
They cuddled together on the couch, wrapped in each other's arms. Carrington gently ran his fingers through Johnnie's hair, placing soft kisses on his forehead. He held him close, whispering words of love and reassurance.
"I love you, Johnnie. Don't ever forget that."
"I love you too, Carrington. Thank you." Johnnie replied.
Feeling better with his boyfriend by his side.
