The soft glow of the late afternoon sun spilled through the windows of Dahyun's cozy house, casting long shadows across the wooden floors. The house had been her mother's, a modest yet charming two-story place that now felt far too big for one person. Despite the memories that lingered in every corner, Dahyun had decided it was time to share the space-at least, financially, it made sense. Renting out the extra rooms would help her manage the upkeep, but finding the right tenants was proving to be more challenging than she'd thought.
Sitting at the dining table, Dahyun glanced over a pile of applications from potential renters, each one stranger than the last. She sighed, pushing the papers aside. Her mind kept circling back to a conversation she'd had earlier with two of her colleagues.
---
"Are you serious?" Dahyun had asked incredulously, staring at Jungkook and Sana as they stood in the hospital's break room, wide-eyed and hopeful.
"Yeah, why not?" Jungkook had said with a casual shrug. "You have the space, and we need somewhere to live. Seems like a win-win situation to me."
Sana, flashing her signature sweet smile, had chimed in, "Think about it, Dahyun. We're already friends, we work well together, and we'd be *amazing* housemates. Plus, we're not strangers or weirdos-"
"I don't know," Dahyun had interrupted, crossing her arms. "We already see each other every day at work. Do you really think it's a good idea to be housemates on top of that? We could end up driving each other crazy."
Sana had laughed lightly. "Come on, it wouldn't be that bad! I'm super clean, and Jungkook-well, he tries his best."
"Hey," Jungkook had protested, though his playful grin gave him away. "I'm very tidy. Mostly. Sometimes."
Dahyun had shaken her head, still unsure. "I just don't know. It feels like a bad idea."
---
Now, as she sat alone in the empty house, Dahyun couldn't help but replay the conversation in her head. She hated the idea of bringing her work life into her home, but the thought of renting the rooms to strangers felt even worse. Especially after the applicants she'd seen today.
She glanced at the pile of applications again and shuddered. One guy had talked about his love for taxidermy, while another insisted on bringing his three pet snakes. Then there was the woman who seemed normal enough-until she mentioned her "spiritual journey" and how she'd need the living room for "moonlit cleansing rituals."
With a sigh, Dahyun stood up, wandering over to the window. Outside, the street was peaceful, the trees swaying gently in the breeze. She knew she had to make a decision soon. Keeping the rooms vacant wasn't an option anymore, not if she wanted to keep the house.
*Fine*, she thought to herself. *It's not like I have any other choice right now.*

The next day at the hospital, Dahyun found herself cornered by Sana and Jungkook as soon as her shift ended.
"Well?" Sana asked eagerly, her eyes practically sparkling. "What's the verdict?"
Dahyun hesitated for a moment, looking between them. Jungkook was leaning casually against the nurses' station, his hands tucked into the pockets of his scrubs, while Sana was practically bouncing on the balls of her feet in excitement.
"Okay, fine," Dahyun said, finally relenting. "You two can rent the rooms. But!" She held up a finger before they could celebrate. "We need to establish some ground rules. This is still my house, and I need my space. No turning the place into party central, and no hospital drama at home, got it?"
Sana clapped her hands together, grinning. "Yes! I promise, we'll be perfect tenants. You won't even notice we're there!"
"Except for the part where we're living together," Jungkook added with a chuckle. "But yeah, no drama. Scout's honor."
Dahyun gave them both a wary look. "You better keep your word."
---
Moving day came quickly, and soon enough, Dahyun's once-quiet house was filled with the sounds of laughter, lighthearted banter, and boxes being unpacked.
Sana, who had claimed the room with the best natural light, was busily decorating her new space with soft, pastel tones and an array of potted plants. Her cheerful energy radiated through the house, and within hours, her room looked like it had been plucked straight from an interior design magazine.
Jungkook, on the other hand, had taken a more laid-back approach to moving in. His room was still half-filled with boxes, and he seemed content to take his time, prioritizing setting up his gaming console before worrying about anything else.
Dahyun wandered into the kitchen, where Sana was arranging a vase of flowers on the countertop. "I hope you guys don't mind, but I like to keep things simple around here," she said, glancing at the newly decorated space.
Sana smiled warmly. "Simple is good! And don't worry, we'll keep everything neat and organized. Right, Jungkook?"
"Yeah, yeah," Jungkook called from the living room, where he was sprawled on the couch, already looking far too comfortable in his new surroundings. "Just let me know if you need help with anything."
Dahyun rolled her eyes, but a small smile tugged at her lips. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all. Sure, living with Sana and Jungkook would mean a lot more noise and chaos, but they were good people. Reliable, even if a bit quirky.
As the sun began to set, the three of them gathered in the living room, each settling into their own corner of the couch. It was strange, this new chapter in their lives, but it also felt oddly fitting. After all, they'd already survived the chaos of the hospital together-how hard could sharing a house be?
"Here's to our new home," Sana said, raising a glass of water she'd poured for everyone. "May it be filled with good memories, laughter, and as little hospital talk as possible."
Jungkook grinned, raising his glass. "And no creeps or weirdos."
Dahyun chuckled, clinking her glass against theirs. "Amen to that."
As they settled into their new lives as housemates, Dahyun couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation for what lay ahead. The dynamic between them would definitely take some getting used to, but maybe-just maybe-it would be exactly what they all needed.
