Dahyun and Jihyo strolled down the hospital corridor toward the skills lab, their voices lowered as they approached a corner. Just ahead, Dr. Kang Dong Joo and Dr. Kim Jisoo stood discussing a case, their conversation interrupted by soft laughter. Dahyun's face immediately fell.
"Great," Dahyun muttered, quickening her pace to pass by unnoticed. "Just perfect. He's out here acting like everything's normal while I'm just...here I am, looking like a fool while he's all smiles with his fiancée. I swear, I'm practically the hospital's dirty little mistress at this point."
Jihyo sighed, shaking her head as they walked. "Dahyun, I told you from the beginning. Dating your boss wasn't exactly the brightest idea."
Dahyun shot her a look, hurt flashing in her eyes. "Thanks, Jihyo. Real helpful."
Jihyo shrugged. "You could've chosen better from the start. There was always another option, you know."
Dahyun narrowed her eyes, suspicious. "And who would that be?"
"Taehyung," Jihyo replied instantly, not missing a beat. "He's single, rich, actually good-looking-not to mention, not engaged."
Dahyun snorted, rolling her eyes. "Taehyung? Seriously?"
"Seriously! The guy practically had 'I'm into Dahyun' written across his forehead," Jihyo teased, giving Dahyun a playful nudge. "But no, you went for Dr. Almost-Married over there."
"Alright, alright, enough," Dahyun laughed, a reluctant smile breaking through. "I get it. I made a questionable choice."
They continued walking, lightening the mood with mock banter.
"Questionable?" Jihyo smirked. "More like tragic."
Dahyun scoffed. "At least I'm brave enough to date someone. I don't see you cozying up with anyone in this place."
Jihyo raised an eyebrow. "Bold of you to assume."
Dahyun looked at her, suddenly intrigued. "Wait, do you have someone?"
Jihyo paused, her face unreadable before she broke into a mischievous grin. "Nah, just keeping you on your toes."
Their laughter echoed down the hallway-only to abrupt, before Dahyun could retort, they nearly bumped into Dr. Im Nayeon, who stood in the doorway with her arms crossed, a stern expression on her face.
"You two must think you're surgeons already, strolling in here like you own the place," Dr. Im scolded, glaring at them. "You're late."
The two interns snapped to attention. "Sorry, Dr. Im," they mumbled in unison.
Nayeon raised an eyebrow, unimpressed. "If I catch you being late again, you'll be scrubbing toilets, not scrubbing into surgeries. Understood?"
Dahyun and Jihyo nodded fervently. "Yes, Dr. Im."
Nayeon shook her head, muttering something about "unreliable interns" before walking past them, leaving the two laughing nervously.

Later that day, as the interns began to filter out of the hospital after a grueling shift, Yoongi, on his way to the parking lot, noticed something unusual out of the corner of his eye. Just down the hall, he caught a glimpse of two figures stepping out of the storage room.
He squinted, wiping his eyes. It was... Jihyo and Dr. Kim Jun Wan. He was about to turn away, mind his own business, when he saw Jun Wan lean down, and-
Yoongi's eyes widened as Jun Wan pressed a quick but unmistakable kiss to Jihyo's lips.
Yoongi froze, his first instinct to walk away. But he couldn't help the curious itch that kept him rooted to the spot for a moment longer. Jihyo looked... happy, relaxed in a way he hadn't seen her before.
He stopped in his tracks, stunned. He'd never seen Jihyo act this way before. Yoongi watched as the two exchanged a few quiet words before heading their separate ways, leaving him alone in the hall, blinking in disbelief.
------
Days passed, and Yoongi tried to ignore what he had seen, but he couldn't stop himself from noticing subtle glances and small exchanges between Jihyo and Jun Wan. It gnawed at him, and curiosity got the best of him.
One afternoon, Dahyun was at the nurse's station, reviewing charts and giving instructions to a nurse. Yoongi approached her, looking pensive.
"Hey, Dahyun?" he began, scratching the back of his head.
She looked up, smiling. "Hey, Yoongi. What's up?"
He glanced around, making sure no one was listening. "I... I have a question. It's weird, but you're the only one I can ask."
Dahyun raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oookay. Shoot."
Yoongi leaned in, lowering his voice. "Say... hypothetically, you walked in on Jun Wan-uh, I mean, Dr. Kim Jun Wan-kissing someone. In the storage room."
Dahyun blinked, shocked, and then a sly grin spread across her face. "Wait... are you saying you saw Jun Wan kissing someone? In the storage room?"
"Shh!" Yoongi hushed her, looking around. "Yes. Hypothetically."
Dahyun bit her lip, trying to keep a straight face. "Alright. So, 'hypothetically,' who did you see him kissing?"
Yoongi hesitated, his cheeks turning slightly pink. "Uh... I saw him with Jihyo."
Dahyun's pen froze mid-sentence, and she whipped her head around to stare at him. "Excuse me?"
Yoongi shrugged, feigning innocence. "I mean, it's just something I... happened to notice. Figured you might know why."
Dahyun's eyes widened, and she couldn't help but laugh. "Jihyo? Oh, Yoongi, you've just made my day." and then again focused on writing down on the chart
Yoongi looked confused. "What? Why?"
Dahyun smirked, leaning closer. "Come on, you know how she's always going on about how I made bad choices dating an attending? Turns out, she's doing the same thing."
Yoongi's face lit up with realization. "So... this means Jihyo and Dr. Kim are...?"
Dahyun shrugged, feigning innocence. "Sounds like they've got some kind of arrangement. And she thought she was so much 'cooler' than me."
Yoongi snorted, clearly amused. "So much for her 'better choices' speech, huh?"
Dahyun chuckled, nodding. "Exactly. And here she was, telling me I should've picked Taehyung."
Yoongi grinned. "I guess everyone has a type, huh?"
Dahyun sighed, shaking her head in mock disbelief. "Apparently, even the 'cool, unattainable' Dr. Park Jihyo has her secrets."
They shared a laugh, each equally amused at the irony of Jihyo's hidden relationship with Dr. Kim.
