Y/n's POV
We had made it back to Ur that night before, being asked by Aiko to meet with her and the leader of the village. "Nagumo, is there anything you can do about this army of monsters?" Aiko asked. She was looking at us, determined that we could help deal with the army. "Please Nagumo. There must be something you can do to us. Without your help, those creatures will destroy the entire town and hundreds of innocent lives will be lost." Aiko explained.
"That's unexpected. I thought you prioritized the safety of your students above all else. Now you're asking one of them to his life on the line for a bunch of strangers." Papa said. Aiko gasped as he looked at her before looking down at the table, looking sad. "Of course, as a teacher, I should always put my students first. That said, I don't want to cast aside the many people of this world that I've come to know and respect. I know I wasn't there for you when you needed me the most, so these words might not mean much to you, but I'll say them, anyway. Nagumo, I do not want your life to be an empty one and it will be if you forget how to care about other people." Aiko said.
"Miss Aiko, no matter what happens, you'll still be my teacher, right?" Papa asked.
"Yes, always." Aiko answered.
"No matter what decision I make. Even if it's the opposite of what you wanted?" Papa asked.
"Yes, provided that you listen carefully to what I had to say to you before you arrived as your decision." Aiko finished. It was quiet for a moment as I looked at papa. He stood up before walking away from. "Uh, where are you going?" Aiko asked. Papa stopped making me bump into him as mama and Shea stopped behind me. "There's an army headed this way. I should probably start getting ready for it." Papa said. I smiled as I got the chance to copy more monsters and more skills. "So you'll help us?" Aiko asked.
"Only cause my teacher told me to." Papa said. We headed towards the mountain where papa and I started using Transmute to make a wall to stop the army's march. The men of Ur came out and started helping us prepare for the army while papa's friends evacuated the rest of the townsfolk. While we were working on the wall, Aiko showed up with mama and Shea with a giant pot of something and some bread. The men went over and started getting served while I continued to fortify the wall that papa and I had made with Transmute until papa called for me to eat. By the end of the day, when the sun was setting, the wall was finished, and I was sitting on the edge looking at the path the monsters were going to be taking to Ur. "Nagumo, Y/n. I thought I'd find the two of you here. Are there any last-minute preparations I can help with?" Aiko asked, walking over to us.
"Nope, we should be good. Not long now, the monsters are gonna reach us soon. I can practically hear you frowning. Don't worry, we'll be fine." Papa reassured. I looked over, seeing Aiko looking a little down. "I realize I have no right to say this since I'm the one who asked you to fight them in the first place, but come back safe, okay?" Aiko asked. I got up and walked over to Aiko, looking up at her. "Papa won't say it, so I will. We promise to come back safely." I said, grabbing Aiko's hands. Aiko smiled before papa spoke up. "There is one thing you can help with, Miss Aiko. Take Y/n back to the Inn so Yue can get her to sleep. I need her at full power when the monsters come." Papa said. I turned and looked at papa puffing out my cheek like mama did when she was mad at him. "I'm not that tired papa, plus I don't need to sleep to recover my mana." I complained. Aiko grabbed my hand before dragging me away and back towards the inn. "Listen to your father, Y/n. I'm sure he has your best interest in mind." Aiko said. I sighed in defeat, knowing that papa wouldn't want me to hurt Aiko since she was a good person to him. When we got back to the Inn, mama was waiting for me. She thanked Aiko for bringing me to her before taking me upstairs with her. She took me into one of the rooms we had at the inn before standing in front of the door. "Hajime wants you to get some rest. So you're going to get some rest by laying down and taking a quick nap. When the monsters arrived, Hajime will let me know and I'll take you over with me." Mama said. I sighed, knowing that mama could easily beat me and keep me in the room. I crawled into bed and almost immediately my eyes felt heavy as I tried to stay awake, only to fail as I fell asleep. When I was woken up, I saw mama looking at me with a smile before sitting me up. "Hi, sweetie. Hajime said that the monsters are almost here. It's time for us to head over to help deal with them." Mama explained. I nodded and got up, following her to the mountain path that we had prepared for the monsters. When we got there, we climbed onto the wall standing next to papa on either side of him. "There they are." Papa said as the monsters came into view. I smiled, ready to take them out after mimicking them for a second so I could steal their skills. "Alright, time to put on a show. Also Y/n, you're not allowed to copy any of those monsters. Don't want you getting caught in the crossfire." Papa said.
