From Mimic to World's strongest daughter

Chapter 9

Y/n's POV

I was riding my bike up the mountain following behind papa's car. As we came to a stop, papa hopped out of the car and let everyone else out of the car. His teacher was the last person who got out while papa was setting up his Ornis. Everyone from papa's old was amazed by the ornis which took flight after papa put some magic into them. "Uh, what are those?" Aiko asked.

"They're human seeking automatons, called ornis. They use a gravity stone to fly and an induction stone to think. There's also a peering stone inside of them that's connected to my eye so I can see what they see." Papa explained. Aiko looked at papa a little confused before she saw me looking at her. "Oh, Y/n right?" Aiko asked. I nodded. "Um, you said you were Nagumo's daughter, right?" Aiko asked. I nodded again. "So, how old are you?" Aiko asked. I shrugged my shoulders before looking at papa and mama. "It's a little hard to explain her age. We'll explain it some other time." Mama said. 

"What do we have here?" Papa asked. I looked at him, excited to get moving, since I heard there were powerful monsters on the mountain. "You already located a clue?" Mama asked. Papa's friends were stunned as they looked back at him for already finding something important. "Looks like a busted shield and some other gear. Yeah, we should go check this out." Papa said. We nodded and followed him up the mountain to where he saw the items through the ornis. When we got there, it looked like there was a giant fight between two groups. We were gathering the items that we found before we walked up a small hill seeing a giant monster footprints in a small crater. "Those are tracks." Mama started. We slid down into the crater, looking at the footprint that was left behind. "If I had to guess, these were made by a huge four-legged creature." Mama said.

"There are stories going around. They say there's a monster lurking beyond these two mountains. Do you think something like that made this crater?" Yuka asked. Papa looked up at the mountains before we started hiking up the mountains, looking for whatever caused this. We ended up finding a waterfall that was flowing into a small pond around it before my search skill went off. "Papa, someone's nearby. I think it's human." I said, tugging on his sleeve.

"Good work, Y/n." Papa said, patting my head.

"If someone's alive out there, they might need our help." Shea said. 

"Over there, behind that waterfall. Yue." Papa said, looking at the waterfall. Mama raised her hand before using the Wind Wall spell to split that waterfall. As the waterfall opened up, the entrance to a cave was revealed. We headed inside and found a person laying on the ground. "Bingo." Papa said, smiling. We walked over to the person before papa flicked him in the forehead. The man sat up groaning in pain from papa's flick. "Hey you, is your name Will?" Papa asked.

"Woah, you know me? I mean yeah, that's me. Will Cudeta." Will said. 

"Alright, Hajime Nagumo. The head of the Fuhren adventurer's guild sent me to rescue you." Papa explained. We started treating the wounds and injuries he had while he talked about what happened. "No matter how hard we fought, the monster wouldn't stop coming. Before we knew it, they had us cornered. Then it showed up." Will said, before flinching. I turned and looked at him, interested in what showed up since it was really powerful. "What did?" Papa asked.

"The black dragon." Will answered. I smiled and looked at mama who nodded. I cheered silently since I was allowed to change into the dragon. "Dragon?" Papa asked.

"I don't deserve this! Why should I get to live? Everyone else in my party was slaughtered. I'm alive and part of me is glad, but when I think about what happened to the others. I just..." Will started. Papa walked over and picked Will up my his shirt. "Nagumo." Aiko started before mama stopped her.

"Of course, you're glad you didn't get killed. Why wouldn't you be? Wanting to live is human. It's called a survival instinct, and we'd all be screwed without it. You're totally in the right to be glad." Papa said.
