Chapter 32

Y/n's POV

The room was filled with people all dressed as fancy as we were dressed. "How do women enjoy dressing in this? I prefer your style, Papa." I complained, standing next to him. Papa just laughed as he gently patted my head. "Don't worry. It's only for tonight... hopefully." Papa said, the last of that sentence being muttered so I couldn't hear it. 

"Well, I think you look adorable. We should try more outfits on you in the future." Mama suggested. I looked at her stunned before seeing the smile on her face, knowing I couldn't escape my fate. "Yes, Mama." I said, accepting my new fate. I knew the other girls would join in and dress me up as well. Shea and Tio were near the table with food, while Mama and Kaori were standing near the crowd. "You not going to join them?" Papa asked, looking at me. 

"While I want to, I barely know how to move in this dress. It feels weird, plus I'm not used to there being so many people. It makes my monster side want to see what skills each of them has and maybe copy a good one from them." I answered, pushing parts of the dress around. Everyone gasped as Papa and I looked up, seeing Princess Lily and the prince from the empire on stage. Princess Lily was wearing a black sleeveless dress along with black gloves that went up her arms to just below her shoulders. Everyone questioned her dress while she stood there stone-faced. She stepped forward and onto the floor without a word while the prince remained on the stage. Kaori and Mama came back over to us as we watched Lily walk around with the emperor. "That's a surprising dress. It's not like Lily to be so obvious and reveal her true emotions in such a bold manner." Kaori commented.

"I doubt she has any room left to care about decorum after what happened tonight." Papa said.

"You mean with the spider drone?" I whispered.

"What happened?" Mama asked.

"Alright, Nagumo, what did you do to Lily?" Shizuku asked, walking over to us. 

"Back up there, Yaegashi. Why are you blaming me?" Papa asked.

"Yeah. Papa saved Lily from being hurt by that prince." I whispered.

"What'd you say?" Shizuku asked.

"Did I just hear you right? Please tell me I didn't." Kaori asked. They were being a little loud as Papa thought about his answer for a moment. "Uh, well, I, uh... Hey Yue, do you feel like dancing? Let's dance." Papa said.

"Of course, I would love to dance." Mama said. Mama and Papa headed to the dance area while I stayed back with Kaori and Shizuku. "Hey, no. That is not cool. You can't just say something like that and walk away." Shizuku said.

"Yeah, you owe us an explanation." Kaori begged.

"Look, I can tell you this. Papa used a spider drone to keep an eye on Lily. The prince was going to attack her, but Papa stopped him before he could." I explained, staying quiet. I stood near the wall as I watched Papa and Mama dance. The other girls came over before complaining about how they each wanted the next dance before Shizuku agreed that Rock-Paper-Scissors was the best was to settle it before the other girls looked at her. "Excuse me?" Kaori asked.

"I meant for you. I don't want to dance with him." Shizuku said. The music ended after a few minutes before Papa knelt down and kissed Mama's hand. Lily walked over before any of the other girls could while Mama backed away so he could dance with Lily. They eventually slowed pace before Lily stopped and hugged Papa while they talked with each other. The other girls were complaining as Papa walked back towards me. "All units. This is HQ, all units are in place and ready. Commencing main objective." HQ said over the radio. Shea took a deep breath before looking towards Papa. "Better get to it. I'm on." Shea said.
