Riley POV:
Today is the first day of my senior year. I'm very excited because this year I got my friends to take a life skills class. But it is a different life skills than normal. For seniors only, this class teaches you about how to raise a family, cook, clean properly, and everything basic for life. It also happens to be my first period class. I put on an over-sized pastel pink sweater and black leggings and grey Vans. "Bye mom, bye dad!" I yell as Maya opens the door. "Happy last year of torture losers!" She exclaimed with a smile.***Time Skip***
We all filed into Mrs. Hanes' classroom. Maya and I sat in front, with Farkle and my boyfriend, Lucas behind us, like we always have been since 7th grade. "Good morning class! I am Mrs. Hanes, you senior life skills teacher!"
After she explained all that we are doing through the year she got right to the first project of the year. We got to choose a partner and we would be like "husband and wife" for the rest of the year. But not only that but we have to adopt 1 or 2 kids. "Sounds fun!" I say. "When do we start?!" Farkle seemed really excited, probably mostly because he was going to finally get his minki he has wanted. "Now! Everyone get a partner! I made sure there was an even number." "Riley, do you want to-" "YYAAAAYYYY!" I cut him off because I was so excited.
Eventually everyone has a partner, except Farkle and Maya. "Maya, you and Farkle are going to have to work together." Mrs. Hanes says. "You mean I have to be married to this for a year?!" Maya says as she points to Farkle.
"Yes ma'am." Mrs. Hanes exclaims with a smile. "Good! Now, not only will you be married, but I'm giving each one of you a "wedding ring" to keep up with. For girls you also get an "engagement ring".
"Oh great!" Maya says with a pout. "I love keeping up with small, valuables!" She says sarcastically.
Mrs. Hanes passed out engagement rings. Each one was different. Mine is a silver ring with a single, large, ruby gem in the middle. Maya got a gold ring with three little diamonds on it. (Both engagement rings are shown at the top) "I love it!" I say admiring my precious ring. "She's finally mine!!" Farkle said with a grin. Next Mrs. Hanes passed out all the boys' wedding rings. Each one had a difference to all the others, but not by much because what all can you do to a guys' wedding ring? Lucas got a silver ring that was dull on the sides and shiny in the middle. "Nice," he commented. Farkle got a silver ring that was shiny all the way around that complimented Maya's engagement ring nicely.
"Lastly the ladies' wedding rings." Mrs. Hanes commented. I know she must have spent a lot on this class, but to get in this class you have to pay a lot anyways so I guess it's worth it. I received my wedding ring and I almost fainted. It was like my dream wedding band! A silver ring with three gems; two small on the outside and one big in the middle. The two small represent two humans and the middle represent them becoming one family. The gems are all diamond. Maya's wedding band is a dull, plain gold, but it's pretty.
"Don't worry, these aren't real gems, but you MUST act like they are. Don't lose them!" Mrs. Hanes stared us all down.
"Now, you may all be wondering how can you take care of children when you aren't living together? Well I figure you guys are old enough to know to behave and I asked all of your parents, they said yes. You will be living together. But absolutely NO playing around or funny business!" Everyone's jaws dropped. I'm pretty sure Maya's jaw broke. "Tomorrow you guys will move in and I'll explain further where you guys are living for the year."
