A New Beginning

The Date Part 2

Farkle POV:
I decide on my own that I have to finally tell Lucas what I've been holding in for the past two weeks. "Hey Lucas," I begin. "Yeah," he answers through the door of the bathroom because he is getting ready. "There's something I have to tell you." I breathe in and out. I don't know why I'm so nervous, he's my best friend. He'll understand. "Okay." He says. "Maya and I are a couple now." I say as a weight is lifted off my shoulders. "I'm so happy for you man!" Lucas says swinging the door open and giving me a 'bro hug'. "I don't know why I was so worried about telling you." I say and laugh it off. "It's cool." Lucas replies calmly.

Christine and Josh then run out and hug their dad. "Daddy!!!" Christine screams and laughs. "Are you and Mommy going to go on a date today?" Josh asks by Lucas' side. "Yes Sir." Lucas answers and smiles at his kids. He is a perfect father.

Lucas POV:
I knock on the door of my apartment I was kicked out of a few hours ago. Maya answers the door after a few knocks. "Sup Lucas." She says blocking my view of what's behind her. "Hey, I'm here to pick up Riles." "She's almost ready."

Maya looks back and then looks at me. She backs out of the way and reveals the most gorgeous girl. Riley walks towards me with a huge smile on her face. She has on a black dress that goes to her knees. It has white lace overlaying it. Her hair is loosely curled with some pulled back in a braid that connects on the back of her head. She has on simple red heels, but they aren't too tall. Her make up is simple. "Wow Riley, you look beautiful." I say grinning. "Thanks, you look very handsome." She says taking my hand. "Bye lovebirds!" Maya yells as we leave. "Yeah yeah," I laugh.

*Time Skip*

When we get to our table at the restaurant, Riley and I sit across from each other. I keep my hand on the box containing Riley's ring in my pocket. I know when I'm giving it to her, it's just waiting for it is making me anxious.

Finally our food comes and that is my cue. I gently grab one of Riley's hands and pull out the box. "Riley," I begin. "Yes Lucas?" "Do you promise me we will be together forever. You complete me, and bring out the best in me. I want to grow old together and I will push you around in your wheelchair." I finish and grin at the last part. I pull out the ring. "I promise! I love you!" She replies as she is giggling, probably for my last part of my speech. I reveal the ring and she gasps. "A promise ring?! You are amazing! I love it!!" She practically screams this. "I'm so glad." I smile. (Picture of promise ring at top)

The rest of the dinner Riley looked back and forth between her new ring and me.

Riley POV:
When we get back to our apartment I change into yoga pants and a NYU shirt my uncle Josh gave me. I put on boots and grab one of Lucas' sweatshirts. "I'm going to Maya's!" I yell at Lucas through the door because he's in the shower. I literally skip over to her house. I lightly knock on her door. "Yyyessss." She answers batting her eyelashes. "Maya... We have lots and lots to talk about." I say as I walk in. "Alright. Farkle is playing a game with the kids in Skylar's room so we can talk in the living room." We sit on the couch, facing each other with our backs each against an armrest.

"Alright what is it?" She asks. I smile like a maniac and show her my left hand. "Wow you're really racking up on that bling." She says, I just laugh. "So are you for real engaged?" She asks.

"No it's a promise ring." I answer.

"Aww, I ship Rucas hard!" She practically squeals.

I look at my rings and then I look at Maya. "You know which is my favorite ring I own?" I ask.

"Your fake engagement ring. Because it's so sparkly."

"No, my promise ring."

"Why's that?"

"Because I didn't get it for a project. I was given it because someone really loves me and thinks I'm special."

"Aww Riles that's adorable!"

"I know! And Lucas told me he would push me around in my wheel chair when we get old!" I practically squeal.

"Haha"

"Well I am going to get the kids and head back. I just wanted you to be the first to know what happened." I say getting up. "Alright Sunshine, see you soon!" Maya says as she hugs me. "Bye Peaches!" I say back.

I go to Skylar's room to get the kids. "Hey Friar kids, time to go home." I announce. Farkle looks at my hand and raises his eyebrows. "New addition to the jewelry store on your finger Riley?" I laugh and reply "Yep!" "Woah..." Skylar says looking at my finger. "You like?" I say giggling. She nods her head.

Both my kids take one of my hands as we walk out. Josh opens the door for us and I immediately go to Christine's room to get her ready for bed. She looks like she could fall asleep any moment. Josh leaves to get ready and Lucas joins me in Christine's room. "Goodnight Christine." I say kissing her cheek. She smiles and kisses my cheek back. I slide over so Lucas can talk to Christine.

"Goodnight Baby. I love you. Never forget that." Lucas says as he kisses Christine's forehead gently. I smile automatically at this sight. Lucas is such a great father...

Luca grabs my hand as we walk the few feet we have to to get to Josh's room. We walk in still gripping each other's hand. Lucas is running his thumb over my rings on my left ring finger. I release my grip on Lucas and bend over to Josh. "Goodnight Love." I say softly and kiss Josh's forehead. "Goodnight Mommy! You are the best Mommy ever!" He replies. I smile at him and then move over for Lucas.

"Night Buddy. Love you." Lucas says giving Josh a tight hug. "Night Daddy! Love you too!" He says with a grin on his face.

Lucas and I walk back to our room and I plop down on the bed. I'm still in what I wore to Maya's. It's kind of hot in our room, but I don't take Lucas' sweatshirt off. It makes me feel safe because it smells like him. And his scent is like a sign that everything will be okay and that I'm safe. Lucas walks over to the bed and looks at me, probably realizing who's sweatshirt I'm wearing but he doesn't say anything. He just goes to turn off the lights and then lays next to me in bed.

I fall asleep with Lucas' arms around me while I'm playing with the ring he gave me on my hand.
