A New Beginning

Movie Night

Riley POV:
In the morning I wake up to the sound of Lucas' alarm clock. "Can you turn that stupid thing off?!" I say tired. "Not until you get up." Lucas says, knowing that that will get me up. "Fine," I say getting up going to the closet. I put on a navy muscle shirt that says less selfies more books and a pair of white shorts and my grey Vans. I then go to the bathroom and put my hair in a french braid and apply light make up. By the time I'm done Lucas has already woken up the kids, but they are running around in pajamas.

"Christine come here!" I say politely and calmly. She runs in her room with me and I pick out a white shirt that says call me princess in purple on it and some black leggings. I put her hair in a pony tail and we walk out. Lucas has gotten Josh dressed already. "We are so late!" Lucas says laughing. We finally get to school. Mrs. Hanes is having us bring our kids to school with us because the other life skills classes are learning taking care of children, but at school. We come in right as the bell rings.

"Glad you four made it!" Mrs. Hanes says with a smile. We walk in and our kids go up to the front of the room with the rest. "Today everyone is going to be assigned a job. I will put everyone in a random shuffler on my computer." Everyone looked around at each other. Mrs. Hanes walks to her desk and clicks a few times with her mouse.

"Okay... Lucas Friar: grocery bagger. Riley Matthews: wedding planner. Maya Hart: hotel desk clerk. Farkle Minkus: waiter." After everyone else is assigned jobs Mrs. Hanes says, "Remember these are by random draw." Lucas and I look at each other. Maya looks annoyed and Farkle is emotionless.

Maya POV:
After school we come home and Farkle decides to go ahead and go for a job interview. So I call Riley and ask her if she wants to come over with her family and have dinner with me, Skylar, and Owen. "I'll be there in 10." Riley says and hangs up the phone. I decide to make grilled chicken with rice and corn.

When Riley walks in with her kids and Lucas I am in the middle of cooking the corn. "Man it smells good in here!" Lucas comments and sits on the couch. Christine, Skylar, and Owen run off and play.

Riley POV:
"Mommy," Josh walks up to me in the kitchen. "Yes Josh," "Can I help you and Auntie Maya cook?" He asks. I look at him and smile. "Of course!" Maya goes to get a stool so that Josh can see over the counter well. I start seasoning the chicken while Maya and Josh make rice. They are absolutely adorable helping each other. Once I finished and put the chicken in the oven I walk over to Lucas on the couch. "Enjoying the game?" I ask laughing as Lucas' attention is on the football game completely. "Yep," is all that comes out of him. Lucas wraps his arms around me and I lean on his shoulder. After a little while Maya and Josh come to join us on the couch, with rice all over them, on their arms, in their hair, and on their shirts. "How'd that happen?" I ask giggling. "Let's just say there was a mishap." Maya gleamed.

Skylar, Owen, and Christine come running out. "Movie!" Christine says sitting on the floor. "Yes!" Skylar agrees. Owen stares us down until we agree. So we put in "Beauty and the Beast" and in the middle of it the oven beeps signally that the chicken is ready. Maya and I get up to get all the food on plates. "Dinner is ready!" Maya shouts from the kitchen. Lucas pauses the movie and we all sit and have a regular family dinner. After dinner we resume the movie and then Farkle walks in. "I'm home!" He yells entering the door. Skylar and Owen run to hug him. The trio then walks back to the living room and Farkle greets everyone. Then he sits beside Maya and puts his arm around her shoulder. At first Maya looks at me with a "get him off" face but I smile and look back at the movie.

Lucas POV:
By the time the movie is done Josh and I are the only ones awake. Maya and Farkle fell asleep against each each other, Riley fell asleep on me, Christine and Skylar fell asleep on the floor, and Owen went to his bed about 2/3 of the way through the movie. "So buddy, what do you want to do with all these sleepy heads?" I ask him smirking. "Let's jump on them all!" He answers. "How about we gently wake them up." I say stroking Riley's hair. "Mmmm" is all Riley says. "We have to go home Riley," I say still stroking her hair. "Fine" she says. I go to wake up Farkle. I tap on him and he shoots awake. "Farkle time sir?!" He says. That just makes me laugh, remembering good times in 7th grade. After a few minutes my kids, my wife, and I return to our own apartment.
