A New Beginning

No Situation is Ever Perfect

Lucas POV:
At school we all get seated and Mrs. Hanes starts her lesson for the day. "Today we are going to learn about facing hardships with your family. I am going to randomly pick names out of my basket here for who is going to lose their job."

Maya rolls her eyes, Farkle's eyes are about to pop out of his head, and Riley looks super nervous. She likes her job, and I am fond of mine as well. Mrs. Hanes brings out a basket and she puts her hand in. "First of all, don't take this lesson wrong, sometimes things just don't work out as planned. Alrighty. Yogi, Sarah, Darby..." Mrs. Hanes begins reading off names. "Lastly, Maya Hart." Maya slams her head on her desk. "I am going to be in touch with your bosses." Mrs. Hanes says and returns to her desk in the back of the room.

For the rest of class an unpleasant vibe was present. We had to write about things happening in the family.

Maya POV:
At lunch I go through the line and then go and sit down with Sundance, Riles, and Farkle. "Maya are you okay?" Farkle asks looking into my eyes and it feels like he is looking into my soul. "Yeah, yeah just fine." I answer. Even though I'm not. "No you are not." Lucas says looking at me with a dead serious face. "Sure I am Bucky McBoing Boing." I answer with a fake smile.

"Maya I know you better than most people. This isn't the normal you." Riley states staring right in my eyes. I turn to Farkle, who is right beside me and he locks eyes with me and give me a "what's wrong" look. I stare back at him and for the first time I feel a real connection between us. I give him a look back that says "nothing" but he knows better. I mean we live together. I can't hide anything from him apparently.

Soon our kids come and join us. We start laughing and having a good time. Pretty soon it was time to go to our next class. We hugged our babies and went to Spanish class.

*After School*

Farkle drove us home and once we got home I changed from my high waisted jean shorts, Beatles t shirt, and converse to a John Adams High School t shirt and a pair of black yoga pants I take my hair out of my braid and put it in a high pony tail. I crash on my bed and sob. Why me? Not one of my friends got chosen but me? I loved my job. I loved everything about it and I got a good pay.

Farkle walks in and shuts the door behind him. "I took the kids to Riley and Lucas' for a play date." He says as he walks over to me and rubs my back. He adjusts himself so that he is sitting beside me with my head on his chest. Between sobs I choke out "I'm a drama queen aren't I?" I ask. "No you aren't." Farkle replies as he strokes my hair. I decide to let out three words that I have just realized I feel towards Farkle. "I-I love y-you." I spit out. "I love you too." Farkle continues stroking my hair.

All of a sudden I hear a knock on the door. I wipe my tears and decide to answer it. The one behind the door is no one I expected, but they do cheer me up. "Hello Moesha. I was told to come and cheer you up." Eric Matthews is at my door. "Thanks." I say backing up letting him in. "But first do you have ice cream?" He asks. "Yep first shelf in the freezer." I reply. Uncle Eric is weird sometimes but he helps a lot. We sit on the couch and Farkle takes a seat in the recliner. "So Moesha... I hear you lost your job." I nod.

After a while, Eric makes me feel better and Farkle leaves for work. The kids come over because both Riley and Lucas have to work as well. Eric leaves and I have all 4 kids alone. "Mommy Mommy! What's for dinner?" Skylar asks. I realize that it's 7 and I haven't fed them yet. "Oops! I'll whip up some spaghetti and sauce and it'll be ready in about 40 minutes." I let the kids know. I put the noodles in the boiling water and start cooking the meat.

During dinner someone knocks on the door. I get up and walk over to open it. It was Mrs. Hanes. "Hello Maya." She says with a plain face. Butterflies form in my stomach. This can't be good. I tell myself. "I have something important to tell you."
