A New Beginning

Cook Off

Maya POV:
"Is everyone ready?" I ask everyone in front of me. They all nod. "Alright get ready, set, go!" I announce and then begins complete chaos, almost worse than the bloodbath in The Hunger Games while two of our teams run out the door to Riley's apartment.

Let me explain what we are doing. So Riley and I were thinking about what we could do together with our families. We decided to have a cook off. The teams are Skylar and me, Owen and Farkle, Josh and Riley, and Christine and Lucas. Christine and Owen's teams are over at Riley's and Josh and mine are at my house. We are having our friend Sarah come over and taste them.

"Okay what should we do Skylar?" I ask her while rushing to my pantry to get some supplies I know I'll need. "Sketti!" She replies very cheerfully. I nod and get spaghetti noodles out of the pantry.

I start boiling some water while I see Riley has some toast on a skillet. I turn around and help Skylar open the sauce when suddenly I hear, "The toast!" I turn around just in time to discover that Riley has practically made a world record. "Umm Riles, that bread was only on there for 30 seconds and you managed to burn it all." I say while laughing uncontrollably.

We are all laughing so hard we don't notice my water boiling over. "Ahh!" I scream as I realize the disaster. I run and get rags to clean it up as everyone else is on the floor from laughing so hard.

When I come back, I see that Josh is trying to scoop flour and some spices into a mixing bowl. Then as he puts another scoop in, his elbow accidentally hits the nob to turn it on. Before Riley could shut it off, flour and spices exploded into their faces. It took every power in me to not die on the floor laughing.

They both look towards Skylar and I and we just start laughing. I mean, how could you not in our situation? Their faces, their hair, their clothes, there is flour and spices all over them.

Hopefully the guys are having an easier time.

Lucas POV:
"Alright what would you like to make baby?" I ask Christine as we arrive back to my apartment. "Umm, chicken!" She says clapping her hands together. "Alright." I answer back and decide to go with chicken, green beans, and mashed potatoes. We only have an hour to make this whole dish so we need to start right away.

Everything is going fine when we suddenly hear a screeching noise coming from across the hall. We don't pay much attention to it, but then we hear a bunch of laughter. Man, these girls are loud laughers if we can hear them across the hall. We all start laughing ourselves, but no where near as much as the girls and Josh.

Christine and I have almost everything ready. Our last thing to do is make the mashed potatoes. "Christine can you turn the mixer on a little higher?" I ask as my little girl nods and presses her delicate fingers to the knob that controls how powerful the electric mixer goes.

Then everything goes downhill.

Christine accidentally turned the knob a little too far and mashed potatoes splattered all over the both of us. We start laughing uncontrollably and Farkle and Owen join in. Farkle slips on some mashed potatoes that were on the floor and lands on his back on the ground. We are all laughing uncontrollably now, and I start to wonder what happened to the girls that made them laugh this hard.

Still laughing, Christine and I plate our chicken, beans, and what's left of our mashed potatoes. Farkle scrambles to his feet after slipping again and manages to plate Owen and his plate.

Maya comes rushing in covered in some type of sauce and yells, "I don't even know what just happened, but time is up. Bring your plates to my house." And she walks out. Our group is still laughing as we make it to Maya's house.

As we walk in I see what cause these four to laugh so hard. The kitchen smells like burnt toast, Riley and Josh are covered in various spices and flour, and Maya and Skylar are covered in what looks to be tomato sauce. All of us start laughing as Sarah comes in behind us and she stares with her mouth wide open. "What happened..." She starts and starts laughing.

She tastes Farkle's dish and then tastes mine. Maya and Riley did not have anything to plate because their dishes are now Maya's new kitchen decor. "And the winner is... Christine and Lucas!" Sarah says and gives Christine a hug. I hug Christine after Sarah lets go. "Congratulations baby!" I say and kiss her forehead. She smiles and kisses my forehead.

We spend the rest of the day scrubbing Maya's kitchen. And after we finished, our reward was doing my kitchen! How exciting! (Note the sarcasm there.) "I feel like Cinderella." Riley says scrubbing one of our cabinets.

"Well if you're Cinderella, then I'm Prince Charming." I reply from beside her where I'm scrubbing a cabinet as well and give her a smile. Riley blushes and then leans over to me and gives me a small kiss. "Okay, Prince Charming." She says going back to work.
