A New Beginning

Snow Day

Lucas POV:
I wake up to a silent house. It's early January now. I get up to wake the kids for school. As I walk down the hall, the blinds are open on a window. I look out and see a sheet of white. I give a toothless grin and go back to bed. My arm wraps around Riley's fragile figure.

A few hours later, I wake up to Riley frantically moving around. "Mm babe, what's wrong?" I ask, hearing the sleepy tone in my voice. "School." She says quickly. "Baby, it's okay. It's snowing. There's no way we could get to school." I say with my eyes still closed.

"Are you sure?" She asks. "Of course." I reassure her. I feel her move back beside me and her arms cling around my arm. I drape my other arm around her and we fall asleep quickly.

When I wake up, I look over to see Christine beside me. Beside her is Josh, and then Riley is on the other side. I smile at my family. They're so perfect; I don't know how I got so lucky.

Sooner or later, I fell asleep again. This time I wake up to Christine shaking me. "Daddy! Daddy! It's snowing!!" I smile at her and reply, "Isn't it beautiful?" She smiles and runs out of the room; probably to look out the window.

Later on, we all get the motivation to go to the family room and watch "Frozen". While I'm watching and the kids are singing, I start thinking about what's going to happen to the kids. When Riles and I go to college. I love these guys and I know that I won't be able to let them go. I would never forgive myself. We share too many memories to let it all go.

I realize now, that Riley and I are going to have to find a solution to this, without having to give the kids away. Time is ticking and in only 5 months we will be graduating.

Riley POV:
After the movie, the kids go over to Maya's to play with her kids. "Hey Riles, can we talk for a minute?" Lucas says calmly. "Uh, yeah." I reply going to sit next to him on the couch.

"What are we going to do with the kids?" Lucas asks plainly. I'm confused on what he means. "What?" I ask. "When we graduate. Most of our classmates are bringing them back to the adoption agency. I don't want to do that. I can't do that." Lucas replies, and I can see tears form in his eyes. I place my hand on his shoulder and state, "We will figure something out. I promise." I say with a smile. Lucas wraps his strong arms around me and I can smell his scent very well. He's always smelled good, and I know that when I can smell his scent, I'm okay.

I really don't know what we are going to do with the kids after graduation, but I'll make sure that they will not go back to the adoption agency.

The next morning I hear my alarm blaring. With my eyes still shut, I feel around for my alarm to shut it off. I finally get it, and I pull the covers over my head. "Baby, you have to get up." Lucas says rubbing my shoulder closest to him. "Okay." I say not moving. I hear the door shut, signaling Lucas went into the bathroom. It didn't snow too much, so we have school today.

I drag myself to the closet. I pick out a black long sleeved shirt, jeans, and a white infinity scarf. I put on black Uggs and after Lucas comes out of the shower I straighten my hair.

Afterwards, I go to Christine's room and get her dressed in a red sweater and black leggings paired with boots. I braid her hair back as well.

When we get to school, Lucas goes off with some of his friends. I'm at my locker when I feel a presence behind me. I turn around to find Charlie Gardner behind me. "Hey." He says with a hint of flirt in his voice. "Please go away Charlie." I say annoyed.

He places his hands on either side of my face. I'm cornered now. "Charlie! I said get away!" I say a little louder. People are crowding the hall, but not paying any attention to Charlie and me. "Only if I get a kiss, beautiful." Charlie says giving a smirk.

I narrow my eyes at him and say sternly, "I wouldn't ever do that. I'm loyal to Lucas." He starts leaning in, so thinking fast, I kick him where it hurts. He bends down slightly and gives a cry of pain. I did after all kick super hard. I try to run away but he gets a firm grasp of my wrist.

"Charlie let go NOW!" I yell. He looks up at me and gives an evil smile. I try to wiggle out of his reach but it's no use. He's very strong compared to me. He kicks my left leg hard with the bottom of his shoe. I fall to the ground with pain shooting through my leg. "Why... are... you... doing... this..." I say though gritted teeth.

"You should have chosen me." He says and kicks me in the same spot on my leg again; this time twice as hard. I yell in pain, but by now the hall is cleared.

No one can hear me. No one can help me.

I'm still on the ground, helpless. Charlie takes this as an advantage and kicks my stomach. I gag a little and try to get up. Impossible. He kicks me once again in my stomach and everything goes black. The last thing I hear is, "Don't lay another finger on her or I swear Gardner, I will kill you!"
