A New Beginning

Halloween

Riley POV:
Today is October 31st, Halloween. I already bought Christine and Josh's costumes last week. They helped me pick them out. I don't think Maya has bought her kids costumes yet though. It's 12:33 pm so I decide to get dressed and go to Maya's to bring her to the store to get costumes. I put on a white t shirt with black sparrows on it and a pair of distressed jean overall shorts and my converse. I put on light make up and put my hair into a regular pony tail.

I walk over to Maya's and knock on the door. Maya answers the door still in her pajamas and a messy bun. "It's too early Riles," she begins. "No it's not! It's the afternoon, you need to get dressed so that we can go shopping for costumes!" I say very cheerful. "Fine be right back." Maya leaves the door and I walk to her living room and plop down on the couch.

Maya comes out in a grey, loose romper and turquoise colored Keds. Her hair is straight and she is not wearing any make up. Today is a warmer October day so we are both wearing shorts. We finally leave the complex and head to Wal-Mart. When we arrive we quickly make our way to the costume isles and observe every costume there. "Ohhh this is so cute!" I show Maya the costume I'm holding, which is a lady bug costume for Skylar. "She is afraid of bugs Riley." Maya says laughing. I find another one. "This?" I turn the new costume to her. It's a Sleeping Beauty costume. "Love it!" She replies. All that's left is Owen's costume. "How do you like this?" Maya holds up a bumble bee costume. "So cute!" I squeal.

Once we check out we are heading home. But then we kinda get sidetracked. "OMG! Let's stop at Krispy Kreme and get doughnuts for everyone!" I suggest. Maya pulls over and we get out. We get a dozen assorted and finally head home.

Maya POV:
Once Riley and I get back to our apartments we go our own ways. I swing open the door to my apartment and greet "Sup Minkus'" I set the bags with the costumes on the kitchen counter and I sit down with Farkle on the couch. We watch an episode of "Big Brother" and then I decide to start cooking dinner so that we can get a head start on trick-or-treating. "Hey Maya," Farkle starts. "Yes sweetie," I call back. "What if we invite the Friars over for dinner?" He asks. "That'd be great!" I answer. "I'll call Lucas right now!" Farkle runs off to our room to grab his phone.

I start seasoning the chicken when Farkle comes behind me. "They are on their way." Farkle notifies me. "Okay." I say. There is a knock on our door and Farkle runs to answer it and the kids join him. "Aunt Riley! Uncle Lucas!" Skylar yells and hugs them. "Howdy everyone!" Lucas says making his way to the couch in the living room. "Hey Bucky McBoing Boing." I say still cooking.

Farkle and Lucas, like always, watch something sports related. Riley joins me in the kitchen and starts making the green beans. "Are your kids excited about Halloween?" Riley asks. "Yep, although they don't care about the costumes they are here for the candy!" I start laughing mid-statement. "Yours?" I ask. "Been bouncing off the walls..." Riley answers.

After dinner Riley runs back to her place and grabs her kids' costumes. I get Owen into his bumble bee costume before Riles comes back. After a bunch of struggling, the kids are ready and I hand Owen an orange jack-o-lantern basket, Skylar a purple jack-o-lantern basket, Christine a pink jack-o-lantern basket, and Josh a green jack-o-lantern basket. Eventually, we get out the door; somehow.

Lucas POV:
When we start trick or treating it's easy, the kids are having a blast and so are we. After about the 10th house half of us were done. After the 15th house, ALL of us were done. We decide to go to a couple more house and then we head back.

Once we get back to our apartment the kids start sorting out their candy. Riley and I help them. After a bunch of candy eating, the kids fell asleep right there on the floor. I picked up Josh and carried him to his bed while Riley went to brush her teeth. I came back to the living room and scooped up Christine. "Daddy?" She asks still half asleep in my arms. "Yes Baby?" I answer. "I love you." She says putting an arm around my neck. "I love you more." I say laying her down in her bed.

Once I quietly leave Christine's room, I go to my room. Riley is walking around brushing her hair. I go to the bathroom and brush my teeth and change into basketball shorts and take off my shirt. I walk out and Riley stares for about 30 seconds then I interrupt her thoughts. "So... you ready for bed?" I ask. "Yeah almost. I have a rats nest where my hair should be." She replies. I can't help but stare at her like she did at me. She's flawless. And even in sweatpants and a t shirt she looks stunning. Man I love her.

Eventually Riley gets into bed beside me. She looks puzzled as she asks me a question. "Lucas, how long have you known you loved me?" She asks. "Since you fell in my lap in the subway in 7th grade." I reply. "That's when I started loving you too." She says. I can't help but smile. "On a scale of 1 to 100 how much do you love me Lucas?" Riley asks. I reply the truth. "I'm going to need a bigger scale."
