A New Beginning

In the Office

Maya POV:
"Miss. Hart and Mr. Friar, why on Earth did you start that fight." Mr. King asks once we are in his office.

I stand up from my seat and throw my hands in the air while stating, "Missy is the one a fault her sir, and if you can't see that then I'm afraid you may be blind!" I can see Lucas' head twist to look at me as I say this. After saying that, I realize that was poor choice in wording.

"What did you just say, Hart?" Mr. King asks even though all three of us know what I just said.

"I said that you're always right and you do everything perfect." I deadpan and add a fake smile out of annoyance.

"Mmhhmm" he groans in return to my obviously sarcastic remark. "What do you have to say for yourself, Friar?"

"Sir, I'm very sorry. I got caught up sticking up for my girlfriend that I was in my own world and forgot about the rules. It won't happen again." Lucas says, seemingly truthfully.

"Mr. Friar, I am letting you off with a warning this time, it isn't everyday that a student is hit over the head with a textbook. As for you, Miss. Hart, detention after school..." Mr. King looks me dead in the eyes the whole time while saying this. It's like he's trying to suck out my soul.

I sigh in relief that I'm only getting detention for one day.

"for the next two weeks." He finishes and my jaw drops.

"But-you-what-no-how-no-ugh" is all I get out before he stands up and guides both of us back out of the miserable dark hole he calls an 'office'.

I cross my arms over my chest while ranting to Lucas on how this isn't fair. "Just because I told him that he doesn't really know what happened in that fight, doesn't mean I should get detention, don't you think, Lucas?" I don't even give him an opportunity to answer before carrying on. "Thank you for agreeing with me, see you are getting off with a freakin warning and I have to go to detention for 2 weeks, yeah I don't see any favoritism there." I stop to breathe and then Lucas, the moral compass of us all has to chime in.

"Maya, I know you're mad, but you back talked our principal, that's why you got detention and I didn't. If you were to have worded the whole 'you're blind' thing differently, I don't think you would be in so much trouble."

I roll my eyes even though he can't see me because we are walking side by side. We walk out of the school and find Farkle and Riley waiting for us on a bench. Once they see us, they stand up and walk in our direction.

"So tell us what happened in there." An intrigued Riley says.

"Well, I got off with a warning, and Short Stack over here ran her mouth and got 2 weeks of detention." Lucas says with sass in his tone.

Riley looks at me as if she was shocked. I honestly don't know why because it's sounds like something I'd do.

"Is that true, Maya?" She asks furrowing her eyebrows.

"Yes it is Sunshine." I reply and start walking with Farkle to get our kids.

Riley POV:

"Mommy, can we go to the park?" Josh asks almost the second my butt hits the passenger seat.

I sigh and look at Lucas who is in the drivers seat. He smiles and nods, so I reply with a 'sure'.

Once we get to the park, Christine has Lucas go and push her on the swings. Josh asks me to play around with him, so of course I do.

We are about to go down the slide when out of no where Josh says, "Mommy, am I ever going to have a brother?"

My eyes widen at his question, I think adopting another child this late in the school year is out of the question for our project, and I am certainly not going to be pregnant anytime soon, first of all, my parents would kill me, and secondly, I would miss too much school.

I sigh and hold one of his shoulders. "Josh, me and your daddy have so much going on, you may one day, just not soon. You have Christine though. And you're a great big brother to her." I smile and we go down the slide together.

At the end of the slide, Josh turns to me and says, "Yeah, I love her." Which causes my heart to melt a little. I'm so lucky to have two kids who get along great, especially because not everyone's kids for this project have been this great together. Maya and Farkle's kids don't get along all the time, and I have definitely heard those stories.

Flashback (Farkle's POV)

"Okay kids, Mommy is gone to work for a little while, so you guys need to behave for me okay?" I ask, or more like instruct the kids. They both nod and I smile at my so far success. I've never handled these kids alone yet, so this will be a challenge.

"Daddy, what would happen if I feed Owen this?" I hear Skylar say just as I sit on the couch and get the remote in my hand.

I turn around and find Skylar sitting beside Owen holding up a bottle of Maya's favorite Bath & Body Works lotion. My eyes widen and I jump up from the couch exclaiming 'no' over and over again until I make it to Skylar.

"That'd be very bad, Sky. Please don't feed him that." I inform her and she just nods and walks away. I am really hoping that she didn't already feed him some like those people on TV ask what would happen after they've done something really bad.

I sigh in relief after waiting a few minutes to see that Owen isn't dying yet. I go and sit back on the couch for just a few seconds before hearing a deafening scream of two children and turn around to find Skylar picking up Owen and flinging him around like a rag doll as Owen starts hitting her and pulling her hair.

'Maya please be back soon' I think to myself as I chase after the two fighting kids and try being referee.

A/N:
Guys I'm soooo sorry for not updating, I've been writing another story that hasn't come out yet but I'm very excited about. I'm not sure when I'll publish the first chapter, but I told my friend about it and she's super excited for me to write it too. Again, I'm sorry that this took so long to write. I'll try to update again soon.

Another thing: this book is near its end I think. I have about 3 chapters left that I've planned there could be more or less, I'm not completely sure. There WILL be an epilogue chapter though, which I'm very excited to write, I just have to get there :)
