Athena Pov
Huminga ako ng malalim, trying to calm myself down. God, I can't believe I thought they had a thing.
"Okay ka lang?" tanong ni McKenzie,
"Uh, yeah," sagot ko, forcing a smile. "Totally fine."
Why am I like this?!
"Babe, I need a gift," sabi ko bigla, medyo kinakabahan pa rin. "An apology gift. What does your mom like?"
McKenzie stopped scrolling on her phone and looked at me, then burst out laughing. "Seriously? You're stressing out this much?"
I rolled my eyes at her, feeling even more ridiculous. "Yes! Of course! I need to make up for, you know that whole thing."
She shook her head, still chuckling. "Athena, my mom doesn't need an apology gift. She's not mad at you. In fact, she thinks you're cute when you get all jealous."
"Cute?!" I nearly choked. "I thought I made a total fool of myself!"
McKenzie grinned. "You did, but in an adorable way."
I groaned, covering my face with my hands. "Oh my God. I need to buy her something. What does she like? Spa vouchers? Jewelry? Something!"
McKenzie laughed even harder, leaning over to kiss my forehead. "Babe, relax. You don't need to buy her anything. Just be yourself. My mom already adores you."
I gave her a skeptical look. "You're sure?"
She smiled, her eyes twinkling. "Positive.
