Play

I play a different role each day
What role shall I play today
Shall I play the loving girlfriend
Shall I play the perfect daughter
Shall I play the overworked office worker
Who am I if not an actress
Different costumes I wear each day hoping to impress
Do my masks sit well on my face?
The world is my stage and I am unpaid actress
No breaks for me because no food for a lazy man
I act and act with little to no reward
My audience are always unsatisfied
Do better they say but I am trying my best
Who am I if not talentless
The world is a stage with so many actors so what shall I do to stand out?
A little bit of this and that and yet I blend in with the crowd
Never do I get a chance in the spot light but when my final act rolls in I would be the main actress
Sobs and speeches would be the highlight of my very last play
Let's throw in flowers they'll say when my final scene ends
