The knight slowly let the armor fall off.

Each metal plate fell away with a clang.

He was tired of always having to fight.

Tired of burying his sword in bodies.

He left his horse to wander the field free.

He felt the wind playing with locks of hair.

The sunlight heated him and not his armor.

These little pleasures still left him weary.

He soon came across a poor young shepherd.

His hair was curly brown, skin milky white.

The shepherd looked at the knight with concern.

The knight acknowledged he did not feel well.

The shepherd invited the knight to sit.

The knight watched the shepherd go to the well

He bent over the well and got water.

He held the bucket gently to his lips.

The shepherd had a sip, some dribbled out.

He then placed the bucket to the knight's lips.

The knight sipped the refreshing water too

The shepherd smiled warmly at the young knight.

The knight felt comforted by his presence.

The shepherd fetched a lamb and made a fire.

He then cooked the slender beast on a spit.

The knight watched the shepherd's strong arms turn it.

Soon the two young men devoured the lamb.

The knight's teeth tore at it aggressively.

The shepherd bashfully nibbled away.

The knight thanked the shepherd for the great meal.

The knight told how he loathed the battlefield.

He lamented about feeling useless.

The shepherd blushed and looked down at the ground.

He shyly asked the knight if he would stay.

The knight blushed, stunned by the shepherd's request.

The shepherd said he could use the knight's strength.

The knight smiled and agreed to stay and help.

The shepherd hugged him, feeling overjoyed.

The shepherd pulled back, he was embarrassed.

The knight laughed, he found the shepherd charming.

The shepherd gave the knight some clothes to wear.

Happily, they toiled the fields together.
