The semester break started a day after the basketball game. Keith, who was supposed to spend his holidays at dorms, decided to go home since it's closer to Matt's house, who took over Leo's case, that way he could keep a close eye on the case.

Matt was against it at first, he didn't want to get involved in such mess again, but his younger brother's nagging and pleading worked on him at the end.

But most of all, he was afraid that Keith would get himself involved if Matt didn't help, he saw the determination in the beta's eyes, he saw the anger and disappointment directed at Matt, and the helpless alpha only wanted his brother's acknowledgment and love.

He didn't want another sibling of his to start resenting him. Kath's resentment is alone enough.

"Pass the syrup." Matt voiced with his alpha voice that he started to use more as his job requires.

Keith, who hated that tone of his brother, passed it silently.

They sat around the table with their parents, having a breakfast. Matt came early that morning to drop off his child, Danny, at his parents house but stayed longer, when he smelled the freshly made pancakes.

Danny played between his grandmother's legs, he was fed earlier but only wanted the company. He sometimes would get closer to his uncle, Keith. He would stand next to his chair and stare, once Keith looks back at him, the kid would fly back to his grandparents, giggling.

"He's energetic." Said Keith's father amusingly.

"Yeah, he's at that age were he becomes annoying." Matt replied, he didn't know how to deal with all the energy, that two years old child has.

"Once he has a sibling, they will play together all day long till they tired themselves to sleep, just like Keith and Kath when they were kids."

His father never once stopped mentioning Kath since she left, it made him feel as if she is close, as if she is still part of them, but he was careful mentioning her around Keith, he didn't want to trigger anything in him as his mental condition worsens by the day.

But this time, his tongue slipped, he even bit his tongue to stop blabbering. All eyes turned towards Keith in worry, as his fork dropped on the table.

But he didn't say a word, maybe he was tired of mentioning her, or maybe he knew they won't give him an honest answer that would put out the burning of his heart.

"Are you okay, Keith?" His mother asked softly as she held his hand from across the table. "Are you?"

She asked again as she saw the blood in her son's face beginning to drain, but Keith couldn't see his face to know how he looks like, to know if his face mirrored the emotions he carefully hid inside.

"Why you ask?" He mouthed, he looked his mother in the eyes trying to fake a tough front, but his eyes couldn't lie, betraying him with a tear that formed in his left eye.

"Keith, baby!" Then his mother cupped his cheek to wipe the tear with her thumb, stretching her body to reach Keith, who leaned to the back away from his mother's touch.

"What matters that you are home now, one day she will come home too."

"Mom, stop." Said Matt, who had enough of this, he had enough of Kath drama, and even Keith's drama, for a moment he was jealous of his siblings, he wanted someone to care about his emotions too, and care about his drama, he wanted to be able to run away like they did. But the other moment he felt deep hurt seeing how his siblings suffer.
