Erika was sitting in her dorm with William visiting her. They were doing homework. "Will, I'm telling you, the result exercise B is 25x²+ 30x+ 9!" Erika exclaimed confidently. William let out a long sigh. "I just don't get binomial formulas! Why does Ms Meyer explain it so weirdly ah."

Just as Erika was about to just take his worksheet and do it for him, the same beam of light they saw 8 years ago appeared behind them. Out walked Nashi, the Cupid, again."Erik, Welma, [Redacted] wants to speak to you! It's important so don't waste any time." Nashi bluntly said, grabbing Erika's wrist. "It's Erika and William actually..." William mumbled akwardly while trying not to get taken with Nashi.

"Whatever come with me. You too William. I have more eyes on my body than you wanna know, you can't hide." William froze and quickly followed.

In whatever place Nashi brought them, [Redacted] was being all over the place. Literally. Its entire formable body was everywhere. When it saw them it took on its more human form and walked towards them. "Phonix1 and who are you again? Nashi Darling, I told you to bring me the 5 rulers not a irrelevant boy!" It said visibly angry. "Tar, I'm sorry, they are the only ones close to the target. They would be most effective. That's William, he's not entirely irrelevant. He's close with all of the feeders." Nashi spoke, trying to soothe it. "Oh, my apologies young William." [Redacted] said suddenly completely calm again. "It's okay... What does he mean with feeders?" William asked visibly distraught. "Nothing important" The creator said getting uncomfortably close to William, putting his hands on his shoulders and hissing into his ear like a snake. William was disturbed to say the least, but didn't try to move as he was afraid it might eat him alive if he did.

"So then" It said grinning. "I have a mission for you! There's a boy in your class, named Gabriel. I want you to protect him. Easy right?" Tar said making it sounds way to easy. Like Gabriel wasn't in danger to their knowledge so why should they refuse. [Redacted] had them where he wanted them. He was in control. Always and everywhere.

"Sure, why not. Wanted to befriend him anyway." Erika agreed smiling. [Redacted] laughed and pulled out a little ball of light. "I will send one of my great helpers down with you." Suddenly Maria appeared, with wings and arrows. Erika couldn't believe it, she almost cried out. "Maria, you're alive! How's that possible?" Maria stared at her. "I'm existential, not alive. I'm a cupid now, forced to do Tar's bidding." Maria said a look of despair on her face. "Wow, atleast you're still there..." Erika stated trying to be positive.

"Maria, if you're good and succeed in watching them, I might grant you free will. Depends on how I feel to be honest." The creator exclaimed patting her head excitedly. "I don't have any choice in that matter, Tar, and you know it. Bastard." Maria mumbled looking at the ground. Tar just laughed.

Nashi brought them back to their dorm and said goodbye. Maria looked around curiously. "Wow I've missed the earth. I can touch everything without the risk of my soul being torn apart completely. I miss being alive, hm" She muttered longingly. Erika smiled, still ecstatic to see Maria again. "You don't believe how happy I am you're still yourself and there and I don't know. Wanna see Rachel?" Erika asked carefully. Maria looked sad and started tearing up. "I... It's hard. Tar threatened to devour every last bit of my soul if I visit her intentionally. I... I'd rather not risk that." She stated. Erika and William looked disturbed. They realized [Redacted] might actually be different than they had originally thought.

"Oh okay. You can hang out with us, that's a start. Better than nothing, right?" William tried cheering her up. Maria slowly nodded wiping her tears away still sniffing a bit.

They went to sleep a little later. Erika tugged Maria in and read her a bedtime story, doing her best to make her feel somewhat alive again even if she still was only a puppet for the creator. She thought about what Maria had said. Would [Redacted] really devour her? What even did he mean with feeder. Erika had always asked herself what divine beings ate, but she'd rather not know [Redacted]'s meal preferences. She stared at the ceiling thinking for a long time struggling to fall asleep, so after a while she stood up and did William's and her own homework to soothe her nerves and save Williams butt in math. At midnight she was done and felt calm enough to finally go to sleep hoping not to be plagued by nightmares about Tar.

Just why did Gabriel need protection?
