Chapter 27 (1): Artificial life

"The test succeeded!" A young scientist exclaimed, to which her team of other scientists all clapped astonished. "We created life. This little girl is the proof we can create life ourselves instead of hoping for reproduction." She continued to rant, using various expressional hand movements.

The little girl looked around. All she saw was the water, that the tube she was in was filled with. She touched the glass wanting to form some sort of contact with the people outside. The scientist noticed that and turned to the child. "Hey little one.. I'm Lisa. But you shall call me professor Relish." Lisa explained while pressing some buttons on the machine the small one was inside. Suddenly all the liquid flew down into a pool, leaving the newly created human wet and finally on solid ground. The lady pulled the small child out after detaching some cables and looked into her eyes. "Hm can't keep calling you child forever. How about Jacky? I always wanted to use that name for my firstborn daughter but since I can create life, I don't think having children is necessary for me." She asked patting her head. Jacky tilted her head. She didn't have a problem with the name but something felt off, which she couldn't quite place. She hugged Professor Relish and she returned the gesture.

The first days were awesome for the small Jacky. She was taught speech by the professor and was allowed to play. There was only one rule: She couldn't go further than the cable at her body allowed. If it's plugged out, she dies. Atleast that's what Lisa told her.

As the days continued to pass by, she got better and better in speaking, managing to express herself pretty well with the body of a six year old human child. Relish never failed to show  how proud she was of Jacky, giving her treats like candy and affection.

One day the professor had her second successful experiment though. The second child, Junia as Relish would call her, didn't need a cable like Jacky did. She could go out of the lab, do all kinds of stuff with Lisa, so of course she quickly grew attacked to her. As Lisa slowly forgot about Jacky, she became cruel. Junia was the perfect daughter she had ever wanted while Jacky was just an imperfect version of her. The professor started using Jacky for cruel experiments. Lisa would study her organs in unnecessary surgeries, test her reactions to different medications she created and even tested her pain levels by cutting open her arms and legs, as well as having metal thorns stab her head. All Jacky was in her eyes anymore was a useless life form that was very resistant to dying.

The little one spent more and more time alone, not knowing what else to do than just stare at the walls. She hated the fact Junia was ever created.

One day she tried getting over to Junia's room, her cable was long after all. She succeeded to get to her door and sat down in the doorway. "Hello.." Jacky mumbled, studying Junia's looks. She looked way more beautiful than Jacky ever did. She didn't have a single scar or a single bruise, ruining her face and limbs.

As Junia noticed Jacky, she walked over. "You're like me!" She stated taking Jacky's hands in hers. Jacky looked at her embarrassed, she wasn't used to physical contact at all, since Relish hadn't hugged her in months.

Suddenly she was overrun with the urge to hurt her. To hurt that untouched face and make it bleed, just like Lisa had done to her. Jacky grinned and pulled her hands away. "I wanna show you something!" She stated going over to her own room again. Junia watched, curious to see what's going to happen.

Jacky came back with a knife that Relish had forgotten in her room and held it up. "Look, a shiny metal object!" She showed Junia, who seemed excited. "It's very shiny! What's it for?" She wondered, tilting her head to the side. "Oh you wanna see what it does? I'll gladly show you." Jacky chuckled before slicing open the poor girl's hand to which she screamed. Lisa came running in to see what happened. As soon as she saw what Jacky had done, she grabbed her and brutally yanked her into her room and closed the door and locked it. "YOU MONSTER. HOW COULD YOU? JUNIA HASN'T DONE ANYTHING TO YOU. GOD, WHAT AM I GONNA DO WITH YOU?.." The professor yelled, losing her usually calm and collected façade. She took a deep breath before continuing. "I think it's best if we terminate you. I don't think we can deal with you anymore. Junia shouldn't have to deal with you. I will do it once I'm done cleaning Junia's wound. Stay here, brat." She explained and left to help Junia.

Jacky was terrified. There was no way she was dying after getting tortured by that woman for months. She looked around desperate to find an escape when suddenly the perfect opportunity appeared before her eyes:

A window that was left open. A window big enough she could climb out. But there was one problem, her cable.

Jacky looked at her knife that she still held in her hand and sighed. "If I die anyway, why not take risks." She mumbled and cut right through the cable.

She had closed her eyes afraid of what would happen, but as she opened them she was surprised to find that nothing happened. Had the cable being her life source always been a lie?

Jacky had no time thinking about it. She had to escape and that fast.

She climbed on the table nearby the window and squeezed her little body out of it and looked at the outside world for the first time.

It was the first time she had ever seen it and it was beautiful. The sun felt warm on her skin, the gravel under her feet felt interesting...She already loved it here. "I will never take one step back in there." She swore herself and turned into the direction of a path leading somewhere and decided she would follow it.

So Jacky got on her way to find a spot for her that was save enough to stay at.

The next chapter will probably be a bit longer maybe, idk how I will manage to write it so.
