As Lila and Itsuki started exploring the forest near Fortress Aegis, Itsuki held Lila's hand lovingly. "You've never told me you were this good with swords. Neither have you told me that you are the daughter of a famous sword fighter! I'm your boyfriend, I thought you trusted me enough to tell me that." Itsuki spoke a little disappointed. "I'm sorry... It's just hard for me to remember my past. It hadn't been all good all the time like one might think. On one of his battles my father had been killed. I have never known his ex, aka my mother, so I was an orphan. I know I was one of the latest to arrive from our group of ten, since I just joined in with six years of age, but it still wasn't easy for me." Lila explained and Itsuki nodded. "That's reasonable. It doesn't matter how old you were when you became an orphan, we all share an equal amount of trauma. Thank you for trusting me with this now, hun.." Itsuki assured her and pressed a gentle kiss on her cheek. He loved this girl more than he did anyone else.
Lila smiled and immediately returned the gesture. She kissed him cheekily and stuck her tounge out. "If not you, who else would I trust. This is a tricky situation. I had never thought Lydia could've been evil, neither have I suspected Desmond, but hey, seemingly you can't trust anyone." She mumbled holding his hand protectively. "I will protect everyone, so no one has to die anymore like my father and Gabriel did already! That's what I learned the art of sword fighting." She exclaimed determined. Itsuki was impressed and so proud he squealed in joy. "I really got the coolest of all girls, that's so incredible! Aaah I love you so much." He said hugging her and picking her up. Lila laughed. "And I got the sweetest boyfriend any girl could wish for! I'm lucky to have you." She stated returning the hug.
As they kept walking they also kept their conversation going. "Did your father teach you much? I mean you were just a little kid when he... I would think you couldn't have learned that much in the few years you could already walk." He wondered curiously. Lila nodded. "He taught me young, with a wooden sword he started teaching me when I was just four years old. We trained everyday and I enjoyed that time. I just wanna make him proud. Maybe he's still up there somewhere. I mean Viktoria and you rule over the afterlife together. Surely he exists somewhere." She tried cheering herself up. Itsuki smiled. "If I ever see him there, I'll get him to meet you again! I promise you that!" He promised kissing her hand. Lila was immediately overjoyed. "You'd really do that for me? You really are the best man alive. I'm so glad we met!" Lila exclaimed and did some excited jumps.
"How about your parents Itsuki? What did they teach you?" Lila asked gently. Itsuki's expression was neutral. "Parents? Never had any. I was left at the doorstep of the orphanage after my birth, atleast that's what's the caretakers always told me. I only had a note with me back then, that read 'Take care of Itsuki'. That's how they knew my name." He explained and Lila's smile dropped. "Oh, I didn't know that... You also never talked about your parents... Now it makes sense. I apologize for asking." She apologized looking guilty. Itsuki held her hand against his face. "Don't worry, you had it worse I'm sure! Nanako was there for the the first years and then there was Kate... Our childhood wasn't the worst. I'm glad I got to know you there and spend it with you." He explained lovingly and Lila smiled in nostalgia. "I still remember the promise I made you. I promised to keep you safe and protect you from everything. Guess I have to fulfill that now." She muttered and Itsuki's eyes lit up. "If anyone can protect someone, it's you! Have you seen yourself fighting alongside Erika and that without any powers? You are so cool and you don't even realize it!" Itsuki exclaimed and grinned giddily. Lila looked a little embarrassed at his proudness. "I was just doing that to protect my friend. I was scared of losing Erika. She's the one motivating us through this. Without her we would've lost the source of our positive energy. I'm glad she's still fine!" Lila mumbled smiling to herself. Itsuki thought about it. She was right. Without Erika nothing would be the same. She was the one responsible for the big rescue when the school's dorm building broke. Without her more innocent souled would've been killed. Her gift of visions was extraordinary.
