Chapting 15 (2): Failure and Despair

Gabriel curled up in a corner of his house. He's very scared of what happened the day before. The thought of Desmond being able to control him whenever he wants to is horrifying to him. He held his leg. It still hurt and looked weird. His pupils had changed aswell. He stood up and walked over to his mirror and broke down in front of it. "I-I'm sorry [Redacted]... Maybe you really just meant what's best for me..." Gabriel said trying to wipe his tears away that kept on steaming down his cheeks.

[Redacted] himself was disappointed.
"I should have chosen other kids. Hunny, I gave them one task. ONE! And they messed up. I didn't even expect that much. If just everyone was as perfect as you hun." [Redacted] complained to Nashi and rolled his eyes annoyed. "Dear, they're children.. they have to grow and learn. Give them time." Nashi suggested holding [Redacted]'s hands gently. "We should talk to them. I'm sure they'll give us a good explanation about their failure." Nashi said softly giving [Redacted]'s hand a kiss. "I guess you're right. Get them." [Redacted] ordered.

Nashi went down to the earth again. He slowly approached Erika when she finished school. "Erika, Tar wants to speak to you." Nashi exclaimed grabbing her hand. Erika looked at him confused. "Did I do something wrong? If it's about Gabriel, William has been taking care of it." Erika explained fixing her glasses. Nashi sighed. "He obviously hasn't. Something happened to Gabriel. I guess I have to search for William as well." Nashi kept a firm hold on Erika's hand and pulled her along searching for William.

William was in his room feeling terrible. He cared for Gabriel. He really did. Just because [Redacted] was the cause they befriended didn't mean William didn't care about him at all. He suddenly heard a knock on his door and opened. It was Nashi and Erika. "The weird cupid? What are you doing here?" William asked confused and slightly frustrated. "Something happened to Gabriel." Nashi said saddened. His and Erika's gaze were lowered. "I... It's probably my fault. I told him about our mission and he got upset. He does not like [Redacted] one bit.." William remarked seeming geniunely disappointed in himself.

"Hey don't blame yourself... I and Mai did nothing to help. I should've supported you... Instead I spent most of my time hanging out with Maria.." Erika said and began crying. They hugged each other and Nashi put his hands on their heads. "Young ones, you're just children. Tar put too much pressure on you. Please don't doubt yourselfs."

Nashi took both of them up to [Redacted] with him. "Hey Tar, here they are. I have one request, don't be mad at them. Be mad at me. I take full responsibility for their actions and failure." Nashi said positioning both of the teenagers behind him.

"Oh honey, I'm not mad. This is... just swell... Just wonderful... This disturbance will bring more chaos into this game of humanity." [Redacted] muttered getting very close to Nashi snuggling into his hair.

Erika and William were confused and scared to say the least. "Chaos?.." Erika carefully asked. "Didn't you want us to protect earth?.." Erika questioned carefully. "No questions, dear Phoenix. You don't have a right to question my power. Yes you shall protect, can't a god pull jokes now? My husband just said I shall not scream at you so I decided I wouldn't. Silence now. I'm gonna put the task as failed. Just continue your mere lifes. Next time I give you a task, don't fail." [Redacted] warned looking down at them with a menacing gaze. Nashi tried to calm him a bit.

After a while he put them back down on earth. "Erika, may you hand me Maria back? She shall come with me again." Nashi asked holding his hand out. Erika looked onto her bed where the sleeping Maria was located. "Please let her stay with us a little longer. We love being near her. Her death broke us all, we don't want to lose her so soon again." Erika pleaded. William just stared at her, trying to make a puppy eye expression himself.

Nashi sighed. "She has no use being here anymore. I can't upset Tar more.  She can't stay." He exclaimed. Erika lowered her gaze full of despair. Nashi took Maria in his arms. "Goodbye, my dear children. I'll see you!" He said making his way up the light beam with Maria.

After he was gone Erika started crying. "I can't do anything right... I can't complete a simple mission... I can't even convince them to let Maria stay with us... She doesn't deserve any if this. I'm a bad person.... I don't deserve any title I got.." Erika cried. William comforted her gently by patting her back.

"It will be alright. I know you will grow up to be someone great." He said wiping her tears away and enveloping her in a hug.
