As Michael held Rachel's light body, she coughed and held onto him. Michael looked down at her. She was pitiful, no one to love her, no one to even look after her...
He's decided he had to be that one.

"Is your throat getting better slowly?" He asked Rachel, gently swiping some hair away from her face.

"Y-yeah... A bit." She breathed, her voice sounding very coughy. She waited a little moment before slowly speaking. "You... Why did you do that? You could've let me die and make everyone happy with that. So why did you save me?" She wondered, her empty gaze reflecting her mental state perfectly. He sighed. "I care about you, Rachel. Just because Kate doesn't like you, doesn't mean I don't. You're an egoist, you know that?" He groaned. Rachel frowned. "I'm sorry I caused you so much trouble. You deserve someone who's not as egoistic as me... You-" She was immediately cut of by Michael. "OH MY, DON'T AGREE WITH ME. WHY ARE YOU SO DAMN INSECURE..." He yelled out in frustration. Rachel was silenced by that.

"I'm gonna carry you to Desmond's place, you can't be alone right now..." He spoke quietly and started walking with her in his arms. The entire way they didn't speak. Rachel needed to calm down from the situation and Michael wasn't going to interrupt her.

Arriving at Desmond's door he unlocked the door with his key and went inside. Desmond looked surprised at the sight of Michael carrying a bloodied Rachel was not something he thought he'd see.

"What happened here?" He asked stepping up to them. "Rachel can't be alone right now." Michael stated slowly guiding her down on a chair at Desmond's kitchen table. "You can leave her with me." Desmond offered seeing her face and feeling a disgusting bit of pity build up in his stomach. How he hated caring about others. "Did something happen?" Desmond asked sitting down in front of her. "[Redacted]... He spoke to me." Rachel mumbled. "He told me I should..." This statement outraged Desmond but pleased him at the same time. Finally a great hint that [Redacted] was evil and should be fought. He slammed on the table. "Of course he did. What did I tell you all? HE'S A BEING OF PURE EVIL! NO HOPE FOR ANYONE, HE WILL TORTURE US ALL INTO DEATH." Desmond stated passionately. Rachel gave him a small awkward smile and hugged her legs. "He is. He's a monster. He doesn't care who he hurts, he doesn't care about his own creations." Rachel agreed. "We have to get him out of the way soon. I'll think of something." Desmond said, immediately being on his way into his lab. Michael looked over at Rachel. "Feeling any better? Everyone here cares about you, even if we're just an evil organization." He said as he went to the counter, looking if the coffee machine was still plugged in so he could make himself one.

Rachel went to the bathroom, tending her wounds more careful. "You look terrible." She told herself, washing her face. She applied plasters on all her cuts and put on a jacket she had left in Desmond's house at a previous meeting. The girl went back into the kitchen and hugged Michael. He tensed a bit, having not expected affection like that. "Hey what's that for?" He asked softly. "Thank you." Was all Rachel mumbled nuzzling her head into his back. He smiled slightly.

Suddenly they heard the door open. Jacob stepped inside. He was not a real part of the alliance, even though he was the most important person to Desmond. "I'm home..." He called out to which Desmond ran out of the lab right into his arms. "Hello Jacob, how have you been? The boys haven't been mean to you again have they?" He asked holding Jacob close. Rachel almost giggled, seeing Desmond this emotional and caring. "Yeah, it's okay... They're just, you know... Not the best." Jacob muttered enjoying Desmond's company.

Desmond sighed. "Don't listen to him Jacob, they're not worth your attention." He growled. He suddenly noticed Rachel's eyes on him and quickly let go of Jacob, acting like nothing happened and he was professional.

"What did the boys do?" Rachel asked curiously, walking over to them.
"Well, let's just say they don't see me as a real boy. All because I was not born one." He mumbled fidgeting with his hands. Rachel's gaze hardened. People were cruel, she experienced it herself before. "You really shouldn't be listening to them." She agreed with Desmond. "You are a real boy. See our goal to defeat [Redacted] can also help you! If we make Desmond the new god, no one will deny your gender anymore! Right Desmond?" Rachel asked grinning. Desmond was surprised. "That's an interesting idea, Rachel. Yeah we can do that." Desmond agreed. Jacob gave a bittersweet smile. He did want to be seen a boy, but like this? He didn't want to do evil. He would help Desmond but only as far as he wouldn't have to do evil deeds. He didn't want to hurt anyone, especially not the people that were supposed to be his friends. He didn't have the heart to argue with Desmond though.

"I'm tired, I'll go to sleep." He just muttered making his way upstairs to go into his room. Desmond looked down.

As much as he'd like to deny it, he cared about this boy alot.
