Yes, alright, Harvey knew that he should have known better. He had been warned to pick his battles, carefully; but it just seemed to him to be the most logical course of action. The older detective saying that he was going after the woman, that was currently in the interview room with her lawyer, because with some of the arrests that he had Jim had been making recently, certain strands of the current crimewave that was engulfing Gotham, could be followed straight back to her. Though the rest of the precinct seemed to believe that it was more that he just had a hard on for her; given that this was the fourth time that she had been asked to come in and answer a few questions, over the last couple of weeks. And though Harvey had tried to argue that that was the furthest thing from his mind; he had to admit, only to himself obviously, that he had had to interview far less attractive people over the years. The detective stopping as he got to the door, taking a deep breath and running his fingers through his hair, before entering the room.
>>------------------------------------<<
"Ah, Harvey..........." She greeted, as he made his way into the small room. Harvey feeling distinctly underdressed compared to her and the man by her side. Both dressed in clothes that could pay his rent for at least the next couple of years.
"Miss (Y/l/n)............" The Irishman replied, as he took a seat, placing a number of files on the table in front of him.
"Oh, Harvey, really; still such formality after all our meetings. Come, come, I believe that we should be on a first name basis by now. Call me (Y/n), please.........." She told him, smiling broadly, before motioning to the pale haired, spectacled man and rather unhappy looking man by her side.
"You of course remember my attorney, Lawrence Baxter.........? Of course you do, as it was only three days ago that I was last here.......If you keep this up Harvey, people are going to start talking. They might even say that we are in love........." (Y/n) continued, as she placed her elbows on the table, so that she could cradle her chin in her palms. Harvey coughing and running his finger around the inside of his collar, before managing to turn his eyes to the files; opening the top one.
"I have asked you to come in..........."
"Oh yes, to business. I keep forgetting that these are not social calls. That you in fact believe me to be up to something nefarious. So, what is it this time......? Has someone that is so loosely connected to me, that any District Attorney or Assistant District Attorney would laugh you out of their offices if you were to take this to them, failed to pay a parking ticket? Run a red light......?"
"Armed robbery on a bullion vehicle........." Harvey interrupted. (Y/n) seeming completely unphased by what he had just said.
"The driver and guard were both incapacitated, before the vehicle was robbed of its entire load........"
"And are you trying to suggest that my client had anything to do with this.......?" Lawrence enquired. It growing more and more obvious that the attorney was not happy about (Y/n) getting asked to come to the precinct, yet again. Harvey knowing that he had to do something. That he had to hope that the beautiful woman slipped up and admitted to being the mastermind behind all the robberies and similar crimes, around the city; otherwise, her friends in powerful places would put an end to all of this and he would never get the chance to interview her again.
"No, Mister Baxter. We have the men that did it. Now we are just looking for the mastermind and the haul........" Harvey countered, as he took two pictures out of the file.
"A mastermind......? And what makes you think there is a mastermind behind this robbery............?" (Y/n) countered. Her eyes looking at the pictures that he pushed across the table towards her.
"Because these two bozos might be loyal, but they are as dumb as a box of rocks: that's why. Do you know them..........?" Harvey enquired. Watching as the lady and the attorney spoke quietly for a moment.
"I would not say I know them, but I have met them, yes.........." (Y/n) finally replied. Her words making Harvey sit up a little.
"As you may know, Harvey, I am involved with a number of charities and businesses in Gotham, that aim to help those that are less fortunate in this city; and that includes those that have recently left incarceration. We give them assistance with food, shelter, and do our best to find employment for them that will hopefully keep them on the straight and narrow, some even having found positions in my own businesses. And, occasionally, I meet some of these people when they are brought along to certain fundraisers that I, and some friends organise. I do believe that these two were at one we had about........I would say, six months ago. But I must confess that I do not recall their names. Though I would say that if you think that I am involved with these men, that I am this......mastermind that you are looking for that somehow controls these.....bozos, or any of the other men that you have spoken to me about; then you must believe me to be the worst mastermind, in history. I mean, who in their right mind would hire known felons to rob a bullion vehicle, that could even remotely be traced back to them. That would seem to be a very foolish thing to do, wouldn't you say, Harvey? And I may not be an expert in the law like Lawrence here; but even I know I cannot be blamed for criminals, that I do not know, going back to their criminal ways, even after being given assistance. So, unless you have some irrefutable evidence that proves that I am somehow involved........." (Y/n) explained, as Harvey took back the pictures.
"Miss (Y/l/n) is quite correct, Detective Bullock. Now, I believe that you have wasted more than enough of my client's time; so, we are leaving. And if you try and call her in again for such things, I will be speaking to the commissioner about having a charge of harassment brought against you........" Lawrence told him, as he got to his feet before helping (Y/n) up from her chair and then making his way to the door.
"Oh well, Harvey. Looks like our little get togethers will have to end. Such a shame really, I was so enjoying them. Nothing like meeting up with a handsome man in the morning, to put a spring in one's step for the rest of the day. And good luck with finding whatever was taken in the robbery; that, and this mastermind of yours. I am sure that whoever they are, they are right under your nose and are ready to play......." (Y/n) told him quietly, before leaning over and placing a kiss to his nose.
"Your move, Harvey............." She added, giving him a wink then heading out of the door.
