A hush fell over the party; the band stopping playing, as two armed men burst into the room, shouting that they were the police. The two officers turning to look at one another, as all they saw in front of them, was a mass of very well dressed, very influential people; appearing to be a mix of shocked, scared and extremely pissed off. Both men sure that they would never live this down or hear the last of it when it got back to the precinct.

"I thought you said that this was supposed to be some gang land get together......." Jim said through gritted teeth, as he and Harvey looked at the guests at whatever this function this really was, who were decked out in suits and dresses that cost more than a cop's yearly salary.

"It was. This is the right warehouse that Joey told me about.........."

"Joey? The same Joey we just fished out of the river this morning. Do these people look like a bunch of hoodlums to you, Harv.........?" Jim continued, as he slowly put his gun back in its holster. His eyes widening as through the crowd came a beautiful woman dressed in a midnight blue silk dress, that sat well above her knees and dipped just enough at the cleavage to make his mind, and he was sure, Harvey's, go to places that were less than professional. Jim inwardly groaning as he realised that the exquisite creature coming towards them, was in fact the State's senator; quickly being followed by Commissioner Essen.

"I am a big advocate for the police, Sarah, you know that; and I am always glad to meet good officers from the GCPD; but I didn't know that holding my little charity event in a warehouse, would mean that we would get raided." The senator chuckled, as she stood in front of Jim and Harvey. The pair trying to avoid the commissioners glare, neither sure that they would have a job in the morning. Just thankful that the rest of the guests had gone back to sipping their champagne; and the band had nervously begun to play their instruments, again.

"Well, seeing as you have made the best entrance of the evening, which is of course inexcusable, as I am the one that is supposed to make the most dramatic entrance at my own party, you should really introduce yourselves........."

"Senator......." Sarah began, before Jim or Harvey could say anything.

"This is detectives Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock......" She continued. Jim sure that she said something about both of them being back on traffic duty in the morning under her breath, as Harvey rubbed his hand on his pants, before shaking the senator's hand.

"Ah, Gordon and Bullock. I have heard so much about the pair of you. Not much of it good, but I wouldn't expect anything less when so many of our other boys in blue are on the take from the local crime bosses. What that tells me, is that you two are doing the right thing, and I like cops that do the right thing. We need more cops doing the right thing. Though that does not tell me why you two would come crashing through the door, guns pointed." The senator said. Looking between the two men. Sarah gesturing with her eyes for one of them to say something.........anything.........

"We received a tip from an informant that this warehouse was going to be filled with different gangs all having a meeting to about carving up the city........."

"And you came to a place on the docks, to a warehouse that was supposed to be filled with dangerous, armed people, all by yourselves, without any backup?" The senator interrupted Jim. A smile coming to her lips as he just nodded in reply.

"Well, Detective Gordon, that either makes you and Detective Bullock, exceptionally brave, or.........incredibly stupid. As to which one I think you are........I would have to say that it was fifty-fifty at the moment. But I am afraid, that as you can see, we have no gangs. And even though I cannot attest to the legality of the dealings of all my guests, I can assure you that there is no need for guns. Well, not unless you think you could use them to persuade some people with impossibly long pockets and short arms, to dig a little deeper." The senator chuckled. Harvey unable to stop himself from rolling his eyes, as he saw the way that the beautiful woman was smiling at his partner. As he saw the look that Jim was giving her in return.

"I am so sorry, (Y/n). As Gordon said, it was a tip off and obviously it..........."

"It's fine Sarah. It's nice to know that there are at least two officers in this city that aren't afraid to get their hands dirty. That, and it will give my guests something to gossip about, later. Though if Detective Gordon would like to make amends............"

"I, er........if there is something............." Jim replied, looking between Sarah and the senator.

"Do you tango, Detective Gordon............?"

"T......Tango, senator........?

"Yes.......the dance. I have been looking for a partner all night that was man enough to take me....... to the dancefloor, I mean. And you certainly look man enough, detective........" She explained. Harvey again rolling his eyes. The Irishman wondering what kind of magic Jim had, that seemed to make every beautiful woman in Gotham think that he was some kind of Adonis. Harvey not able to see it himself.

"I, um............senator........."

"Just one dance, detective, and all will be forgiven. And its, (Y/n)........." The senator continued, holding out her hand. Jim straightening his jacket, before placing his palm in hers and allowing her to lead him over to the dancefloor. The space clearing as the two moved into the centre of the crowd and music began to play. Harvey reaching for a glass from one of the silver trays that were being carried around by the waiters, and downing the contents in one gulp, before he leant against the wall; watching as his partner and the exquisite senator moved together across the empty floor. Harvey having a feeling that given the look in Jim's eyes, dancing wouldn't be the only way that he would like to be apologising to the senator, that night.
