Aurora's heart soared as she set up Leah's match on the TV, her excitement palpable in the air. The anticipation of watching Leah play filled her with warmth, but nothing could compare to the moment that was about to unfold. Mateo, immersed in his toys on the floor, caught Aurora's eye, and she couldn't help but smile as she watched him play.
Suddenly, she heard a sound that made her heart skip—a small, determined voice calling out, "Mama!" Aurora's gaze shot toward Mateo, and to her astonishment, she saw him standing, wobbly but upright. He was taking his first steps, not towards her, but towards the television where Leah was lining up for the match.
"Oh my God, he's walking!" she gasped, her excitement bubbling over. She quickly grabbed her phone, fumbling a bit as she switched to video mode, not wanting to miss a second of this monumental moment.
Mateo took another step, then another, his concentration fierce as he made his way from his toys by the side of the sofa to the TV stand. Aurora could hardly believe her eyes.
As he reached the TV stand, he held on tightly, gazing up at Leah on the screen. "Mama!" he called out, blissfully unaware that Leah was miles away, focused on the game rather than the little boy who was so desperately calling for her.
Aurora couldn't help but chuckle, her heart swelling with pride as she finished recording. "Little traitor doesn't walk for me but walks for you, and you aren't even here," she says to the camera, shaking her head in disbelief.
She sent the video to Leah, her heart racing with excitement at the thought of sharing this incredible milestone. "I can't wait for her to see this," Aurora thought, smiling widely as she picked Mateo up into her arms.
"¡Qué inteligente eres!" she exclaimed, kissing his forehead, her heart bursting with pride. "I'm so proud of you, mi amor!"
Mateo giggled, clearly delighted by the attention, and Aurora brought him to the sofa, settling in to watch the match as it kicked off. She held him close, both of them nestled into the couch, her heart full as she explained the game to him.
As the players ran onto the field, Aurora felt a sense of joy enveloping her, a warmth that filled the room as she shared this moment with her son. The thrill of the match blended beautifully with the pride she felt in Mateo's achievement, making the day feel even more special. She couldn't wait for Leah to see the video and share in this moment with them, a memory that would only strengthen their little family.
As the match unfolded on the screen, every time the camera panned to Leah, Mateo perked up in Aurora's lap, his bright eyes wide with excitement. "Mama!" he called out, his little voice echoing through the living room, filled with pure joy.
Aurora couldn't help but chuckle at his enthusiasm, her heart swelling with affection for both Leah and their son. It was a beautiful sight to see Mateo so captivated by the mere presence of his mother on the screen, even if his attention quickly shifted back to the colorful chaos sprawled across his coloring mat.
The mat was a riot of colors, covered in his scribbles—some resembling shapes, others just a flurry of crayon marks that represented his unfiltered creativity. Each time Leah's face appeared, Mateo's concentration would break, and he'd glance at the TV, momentarily abandoning his artwork to reach for the screen as if he could touch Leah through the glass.
