Dear Readers,

I hope you enjoy the next chapter related to their past.

Soon, we will be back in the present to progress with the story line. ^__^

It seems I developed a cubital tunnel syndrome from typing too much. >__< Which means my fingers feel numb. But that will not stop me. O_o

By the way, did you notice that my english improved compared to the early chapters? Please let me know if you think so. And do you actually listen to the music I suggest while reading?

Love, D-I-A-G

Young Kitty's Perspective

I am about to jump up to wipe Sylus smug expression out of his face with a powerful punch, as Dr. Bitch appears in the entrance door of the trainings hall. "Here you are, test subject #1. I was looking for you, it's time for your check-up. Come with me, now." Her cold voice drips with authority, allowing no retorts. With a last scowl in Sylus's direction, I leave the trainings hall, following the doctor's lead.

On the way to the examination room, our footsteps echoing in the abandoned corridors, I begin to wonder what kind of tests she is planning to do this time.

First, there are physical assessments, such as running, jumping, lifting weights, and other physical activities. The doctor also checks my heart rate, blood pressure, and other vital signs to see how my body is responding to the training. She even measures my strength and agility, and assesses my reaction time, balance, and coordination. I am outstanding in every category, and I am quite proud of my accomplishments. She takes notes on everything, on her face a frown.

Then the trials include more mental assessments, such as memory tests, problem-solving tasks, and cognitive tests. At the end of it, you could probably say that I am pretty smart, at the very least.

But then the tests take on a bizarre turn.

Dr. Bitch gestures me to take place in one room which is empty and sterile, except for a table and a stool standing in the middle. On the smooth surface of the table lies an orange, it's fresh smell flooding my senses.

"Move the orange without touching it in any way. Try to use your mind and willpower." I stare at her in disbelief. Did she lose her damn mind? But she only looks at me with expectation, her expression stern, as she waits for me to begin the test. So, I just shrug in defeat and take my place on the stool. A wave of unease is washing over me as I stare at the orange sitting innocently on the table.

I take a deep breath, inhaling the scent of the fruit, as I try to focus my mind and my willpower. Move, stupid piece of fruit. I stare and stare, desperately willing the fruit to move, but nothing happens. The orange remains stubbornly immobile, mocking me with its stillness. I did not expect anything else though.

At the corner of my eyes, I can sense Dr. Bitch leaning against the wall with her arms crossed, observing me with interest. I feel like an idiot, sitting there, straining to make the impossible happen. Why did she even ask me to do this? Can she not see that this is a waste of time? She does not really expect me to develop some kind of magic powers, right? That's just plain ridiculous.

As the minutes tick by and the orange remains stationary, my frustration turns to anger. This is ridiculous. I don't have some magical power to move things with my mind. I'm just Kitty, a girl who likes to fight, not a psychic. I try to push away the self-doubt creeping into my mind, but it's hard. All I can think is that I'm failing, that I'm not meeting the doctor's expectations.
