11. Bedtime Story (Lily and the Vampire King)

I hum in agreement, shifting my body uncomfortably. "Should I lull you to sleep, kitty?" My eyes widen in disbelief at Sylus proposal. "I am pretty good in telling bedtime stories...!" His voice sound almost proud... is he serious? "You would tell me a bedtime story to lull me into sleep?" I turn around to face him. Its unexpected to say at least. It's totally absurd. A small smirk crosses his lips. "Of course, kitten... I told you I could be gentle, didn't I? Now close your eyes and let me tell you a story..."

Sylus takes a moment to gather his thoughts, thinking of a suitable story to tell me, before finally beginning. I am closing my eyes with anticipation.

"Mmmm... once upon a time, a long, long time ago, there was a beautiful princess.... she lived deep in the forests, in a grand and beautiful kingdom..."

"What was her name?" I open my eyes and look curious in his eyes. I must admit I am kind into bedtime stories.

Smiling as I interrupt him, he reaches out to stoke my hair softly before answering my question.

"The princess' name was Lily... Lily was young, but already known as the most beautiful girl in the entire kingdom..."

"Of cause..." I snort sarcastically at the fact that every princess seems to be perfect. But noticing Sylus stern look as I interrupt him again, I shut my mouth.

"Mmm... okay, I'll continue... as I was saying, Lily was the most beautiful girl in the kingdom, but she was also sweet and kind, and she loved to explore the forest, all by herself..."

"That's dangerous..." I gasp, already completely involved by the story of Lily. Sylus can't help but laugh softly at my gasp.

"Mmm... yes, it was quite dangerous... the woods were full of all sorts of dangerous creatures, but Lily was brave and adventurous, and wasn't afraid of exploring, in fact, it was her favorite thing to do... she went out almost every day, but one day, one day was different...."

"What happened...?" My eyes widen in wonder, a little afraid of what's going to happen next.

"Now now, kitty, don't be impatient... I'm getting there.... so, one day, while Lily was out exploring the forest, she wandered a bit further than usual and lost her way...."

"Oh no..." I know this is just a story, I am fully devoted in the fate of princess Lily. Sylus can't help but smile softly at my concerned words for the princess.

"Mmm... yes... poor Lily... she was lost and stranded in the forest, it was starting to get late, and she couldn't find her way back home..."

"What did she do?"

"Well, with the sunlight starting to fade, and her inability to find her way back home, Lily had no choice but to find a safe place to spend the night... and that's when she stumbled upon a... cave..."

"A cave?"

"Yes, a cave... and as night fell and Lily grew tired, she decided to go inside the cave, thinking it would be a safe and warmer spot for her to rest for the night...."

"Sylus... You know... I think you look a lot like a vampire somehow..." I mumble half asleep. "Maybe Lily... will be rescued by a sexy vampire?"

"Sexy vampire... huh?" I can't see Sylus smirk because I am already half asleep. But he just continues his story. "Lily settled in the cave for the night, it was a bit cold and uncomfortable, but at least it was better than being out in the forest... she curled up in a corner of the cave and tried to fall asleep..."

I am clearly getting drowsy, but I still try to listen to the story. Sylus runs his fingers through my hair again.

"But as Lily was drifting off to sleep, suddenly, she heard a noise coming from deeper inside the cave...." Sylus voice becomes lower, almost dangerous.

"Are you trying to scare me?" I suddenly widen my eyes, a little scared of what is coming next. Sylus just chuckles.

"Shhh... don't worry kitten... it's just a story after all... there's no need to be scared.... now, shhh... and listen... as Lily heard the noise, her heart started to beat a bit faster, and she slowly crept up to investigate..."

"Lily is so cool... so tough..." I murmur in sleep.

"Yes, she is a pretty tough little princess, isn't she? Now.... she crept further into the cave, searching for the source of the noise, and that's when she saw it..."

"What...?" I pull the blanked over my face to hide. Sylus gently pulls the blanket down to reveal my face again as he continues in a soft, reassuring tone.

"Mmm... don't hide under the blankets kitten, you'll miss the story... and don't be scared... there's nothing to be afraid of, it's just a story.... now, can you be brave and listen to the rest...?"

"Brave like Lily..." I whisper.

"Yes, that's right, brave like Lily... now, Lily crept further into the cave, towards the source of the noise, and that's when she saw it... she saw him...!"

"Who? Mister sexy vampire?" I joke trying not to be afraid.

"You could say that... but he wasn't just any sexy vampire... he was the King of the Vampires...!"

"Okay... That's hot..." I admit.

"Yes, he was quite hot, wasn't he?" Even with my eyes closed I can feel Sylus cocky smirk. "And when he saw Lily, he was immediately captivated by her beauty..."

"So... it was love at first sight? But Lily would not fall so easily for a Vampire lurking in the dark... in a cave... would she?" I star to doubt the story.

"Mmm... well, you see, this vampire king was quite charming, but you're right, she wasn't going to fall easily... the vampire king approached Lily, and began to speak to her, his charming and smooth words effortlessly drawing her in, she was captivated by his presence and found it hard to resist him, but she tried to stay strong and not give in to his charms too quickly..."

"What did he say?" Sylus pauses to imagine the vampire king in the story talking to the beautiful princess.

"He called her beautiful and told her how he had been drawn to her beauty the moment he saw her, he told her he was a vampire, but not to be afraid, he had come to save her not hurt her.... he told her he knew she must be tired and lost, but that she could stay with him, and he would take care of her..."

"Was he trustworthy?" That's a valid question, after all, he was a stranger, and she didn't know him.

"Lily was skeptical and cautious, but his soothing and charming words and demeanor made it hard to resist his offer, she wasn't sure if he was trustworthy, but he seemed sincere and wanted to take care of her... it was late and she was tired, so she decided to accept his offer, he gently lead her deeper into the cave to a deeper part where he had a bed and blankets laid out..."

I am half asleep now and struggling to keep my eyes open. I can't stop little yawns escaping my lips. "Naughty little vampire..." I mutter with my eyes closed.

"Yes, quite naughty indeed, princess... he clearly had some plans of his own, and he brought her to his bed and blankets, and told her she could rest there, and that he would watch over her as she slept... Lily was tired and weary so even though she was a bit skeptical, she laid down on the bed and blankets, and drifted off to sleep, the vampire watching over her..."

Unfortunately, I miss the rest of the story. My eyes closed, my breathing steady, my mouth slightly open, I am sound asleep.
