Kitty's Perspective
"What happened to us after the fight in the arena and the w-wanderer?" My tongue stumbles across the word 'wanderer' as I recall the pure fear at its sight, which still leaves an uneasy feeling clenching my stomach even now. I sense how Sylus's body instantly tenses up again at my unexpected question and he pulls me even closer. He takes a deep breath and exhales, before answering my question anyway.
"To be honest, I don't know exactly what happened right afterwards." Sylus sighs apologetic, and his mouth is so close to my neck that his warm breath wafts over my skin. He shifts his body uncomfortably as he recalls the scene, his expression is strained as he continues. "We both passed out. You were utterly exhausted after using up all your energy to save me. And I was critically injured. This way, it was easy-peasy for Dr. Bitch to drag us back into that laboratory, without us able to fight back."
"Damn. I thought, we were able to kick her damn ass with my freaky powers." The disappointment is clearly audible in my voice as I cross my arms and pout, and Sylus chuckles at my aggressive attitude. "Unfortunately, no. Sorry, Kitty." He sighs apologetic again, before he continues. "I would have loved the sight, of you ripping that bitch into little pieces." An icy shiver runs down my spine as I recognize the hatred and the bloodlust in Sylus's voice, as he imagines the brutal scene of me getting revenge for us.
"What happened to my powers? Did I lose them?" I stare at my hands, wondering what happened to those frightening and thrilling abilities. I clench them into fists and relax them again, only to clench them again. They look totally normal, not powerful at all.
Suddenly, Sylus gently grabs my fists, sliding his fingers into my palm to force me to release the tension in my fingers. His hands are so big that mine look tiny and harmless compared to his. His fingers are long and slender, his palm easily engulfing my whole hand. His hands are beautiful and magical. As I focus on his warmth soaking into my skin, he finally continues, searching carefully for words to explain what happened.
"You may have lost them, but not then. However, you were not able to control your powers, which were directly connected to your emotions. The extreme energy you used inside of the arena was caused by the unbearable fear of losing me. Without that kind of trigger, you were not able to summon them, at least not as powerful. We were forced to absolve some kind of... training..." He hesitates for a moment, sighing as he struggles to find the right words. "It's kind of hard to explain. If you want, I can show it to you by diving back into the memories."
My frown deepens with each word out of his mouth as I try to process what he is trying to say. I had unbelievable powers, but I could not use them as I pleased. It's like owning a Ferrary without having a driver license. Well, that sucks. But I must know why Sylus is so hesitant to tell me more about that special training. I already sense that it can't be something pleasant. Discouraged, I take a deep breath to collect myself, before I simply nod and speak. "Yes, I want to go back. Show it to me."
I look up at Sylus, who stares back at me with unbelievable softness and tenderness in his eyes. "Not everything was bad. At least they did not try to separate us, and we did not have to hide our feelings anymore. It's also the time when we were falling in love so deeply that nothing would separate us ever again, not even death. I cherish those memories within my heart as one of my most precious treasures."
Immediately, my heartbeat accelerates pumping excitement and anticipation through my veins that I can feel vibrating in every cell of my body. I will be able to relive the moment of us falling in love. Sylus must sense my enthusiasm, because a big smile appears on his lips and joy is reflected in his eyes as I stare at him in awe. Then, he withdraws one hand from mine to gently place his fingers on my forehead.
