Kitty's Perspective

I am checking my phone and notice that I have several missed calls and messages from Tara.

[Are you all right? That was quite the drama. Don't worry, I will clear things up, so nobody gets the wrong idea about your trio.] and

[Where are you? You are gone for a while now?] and

[I am worried. Did they hurt you? I will beat them up for being idiots!]

As we leave the private section, I roam the main dance floor of the party location looking for Tara and Nero. The Halloween party is still fully ongoing, loud music waves through the air and its beat vibrates within my body. Dancing enthusiasts disguised as werewolves, elves, vampires and whatnot are standing in my way as I stretch my head to look over the crowd. Some of them give me an odd look as Xavier and Sylus flank my back on either side like guardian angels.

Finally, I am finding them standing at the bar. Tara leans against the counter and her gaze roams over the guests as if she is looking for someone. Nero has only eyes for her and is clearly nervous around her presence. It's endearing how much he seems to like her.

As Tara's gaze finds my face within the crowd, I can clearly see the wave of relief washing over her face. She runs to me to hug me tightly, whispering in my ear. "Thank God. I was so worried. Are you alright?" As I nod, she looks behind me to lock eyes with Sylus and then Xavier, and her voice turns stern. "You two are real idiots!"

I can hear their embarrassed coughs behind me as Tara scolds them like naughty brats. I must suppress my giggle as she reminds me of an annoyed mother scolding her kids. "Thanks, Tara." I squeeze her tightly in gratitude for our friendship.

I withdraw slightly to look into her eyes, a mischief grin on my lips as my gaze darts to Nero who observes Tara's every movement from a distance. "By the way, I think Nero really likes you, his eyes were glued to you the whole night." A faint blush crosses her face at my mentioning Nero's affection for her, mumbling silently. "I know."

Now I really can't stop a giggle. She is so done for. I wonder how I could have missed that Tara has fallen head over heels in love with this cute nerd in the last few months. I take a mental note to ask her about every little single detail later. But for now, Sylus and I must leave the party. I can still feel the aftereffect of the lingering alcohol in my blood system and my body aches for a good night's rest.

"Can you do me a favor and tell Jenna that I am getting some time off from work? I have to take care of some personal business." Tara's eyes narrow slightly and a hint of curiosity reflects in them, but instead of questioning my request she just nods after a moment. "No problem. I will cover you, no questions asked. Just tell me when something troubles you."

I say goodbye to Tara and wink at Nero who blushes even more, before I turn to Sylus and Xavier. I have to smile as I take in the sight of my two guardians, standing there with crossed arms, avoiding looking at each other and clearly irritated by the presence of the other. Instead, their gazes are locked on mine, waiting for my next decision. "Xavier, thanks for your help." I lean in to wrap my arms around his neck and place a light kiss on his cheek.

Sylus's Perspective

I tolerate Xavier's presence next to mine, which does not mean that I am pleased by it. As you wrap your arms around his neck to press your lips on his cheeks, my heart rate increases in rage and a vein on my temple starts to pulsate intensively. I know it's supposed to be a friendly gesture, but I can see the blush crossing his cheeks as you withdraw.

"Yeah, thanks. But we must go now." I growl with gritted teeth and grab your wrist to pull you away from him closer to me. His gaze wanders from your face to mine, and his expression turns annoyed, but a cocky grin appears on his lips as he teases me. "Can't handle a gesture between friends?"
