I sigh, the headache returning to my brain at this complicated topic. I slide my fingers out of Sylus's hand, suddenly feeling awkward. I am not even here on my own free will. I was kidnapped on our first meeting. Before that, he stalked me using Mephisto. And he was horrible to me in the beginning to say at least. And then we ended up in this bet, that I shouldn't fall in love with Sylus in order to be free. I don't know if I could trust him or if he was manipulating me to get what he wants. Sylus eyes narrow at my action, hurt flickers over his face before it returns to the usual arrogant expression, hiding his feelings.

"You don't trust me. And I can't blame you for that. I've given you plenty of reasons not to. But..." Sylus pauses, the words catching in his throat. "I'm not the same person I was back then. I am not the same boy you fell in love once. I have changed, I will admit that. But I had to in order to survive... in order to find you."

"I know I can't expect you to trust me right away," He continues, his voice softer now, laced with a hint of desperation. "But I'm not going to give up on you. On us. I wouldn't have gone through the trouble of kidnapping you if I didn't think we could have a second chance."

I watch him carefully as Sylus justifies his actions. I think about our bet, the three chances for him to win me over, to make me fall head over heels in love with Sylus (again). The first one was to sleep in the same bed as him. That wasn't so bad at all, to say at least. He was kind and gentle and I really enjoyed the story of Lily and the vampire. I must admit that I do not hate Sylus anymore. I am curious who Sylus actually is and why I once have fallen in love with him. I start to wonder what the second chance will include.

Suddenly, as if sensing my inner bubbling, Sylus decides to take a step closer to me, his body only inches away from mine. My eyes widen, as he reaches out, gently cupping my chin in his hand, tilting my face up to meet his scarlet gaze.

"What's going on in your pretty little head, kitten?" Sylus murmurs, his voice sounding low and seductive. "Curious about what I have planned to make you fall for me?" Sylus lets his fingers trail down the curve of my jawline, ghosting over my skin, the touch sending a shiver down my spine. He leans in even closer, his lips almost brushing against mine as he continues speaking. "You're not as cold to me as you were before..." His voice showing a hint of satisfaction in his tone. "You've warmed up a little... I can tell you're curious about me. About who I am. And what I want."

I swallow hard. I had to admit that he wasn't wrong. "So... What's coming next?" I grab his hand on my chin and firmly push it away, while I try to focus. "You love music, we both do by the way. I loved your bedtime story... I need a follow up on Lily by the way. And you can be incredible gently, if you want. And I can't believe that you can cook like a chef." I count the different sides I have seen of Sylus that I could like. I don't mention how hot and sexy he is and that I have trouble to think straight when he's near me without a shirt.

"But you are also intimidating, controlling, possessive and cruel... a creepy stalker with a stalker bird... not to forget the most wanted criminal of the N109 Zone... and I am a hunter... we are basically enemies. But the worst point: How annoying arrogant you can be...!" I roll my eyes at Sylus and I can see the cocky grin appearing on his face. "To make it short: I just can't imagine falling for you in a hundred years... and yet it already happened in the past... What was wrong with me?"

Sylus chuckles at my assessment of him, a mixture of amusement and irritation. "Well, well, well," he says, a smirk forming on his lips. "You've made quite the list of my personality traits, haven't you? Intimating, controlling, possessive, cruel, a criminal, arrogant..." He imitates me. "But you're forgetting one important one," he adds, leaning in even closer.

His lips are almost touching the shell of my ear as he continues whispering, his voice dripping with seduction. "Charismatic. Irresistible. Captivating." Sylus pauses for a moment, letting his words sink in, the tension between us palpable. "And, of course, absolutely devastatingly handsome. You forgot that one." No, I definitely didn't forget that one.
