Kittys Perspective
"Play along and no one will know." Sylus whispers into my ear, his voice hushed. Then he winks at me with a cocky grin before he closes his visor. Sylus quickly composes himself, straightening up and trying to look casual as the elevator door swings open. He puts on his best confident and charming demeanor, as he turns to greet the rescue team that has arrived to fix the elevator.
"Thank God. Thanks for getting us out of there, good work guys." He gives the rescue team a nod of greeting. One of the rescuers nods in response, eyeing us both with curiosity, noticing the flush on my cheeks and the messy state of my hair. "Yeah, no problem."
I stare in disbelieve. Sylus is incredible. He nonchalantly follows the rescue team out of the elevator and waits for me to follow him as if nothing happened. He reaches out a hand to me, silently offering to help me out of the elevator and back into the busy hallway.
As we walk over the corridor, Sylus greets my colleagues as if he belongs here, as if he is one of us. Sylus walks confidently beside me, his head held high as if he owns the place. Where does his faith come from? He doesn't seem worried at all about being discovered.
I wish I would feel less anxious about the whole situation, but my palms are sweaty, and my heart is racing. As I glance around the hallway, I notice that no one seems to pay much attention to him. In fact, no one cares that he is still wearing his helmet, my colleagues are more worried about the elevator malfunction than Sylus appearance.
However, my anxiety taking over, I rush to follow directly behind him. As we reach my office, I slam open the door and grab Sylus's arm, pulling him inside my office with a swift move, locking the door behind me. He takes a moment to glance around the office, taking in the surroundings, noticing the desk, the closet and the cabinets.
Then, Sylus pulls off his helmet, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth as he takes in the sight of my flushed and anxious face. "We need to work on your boldness, Kitten." That's enough. Bastard. I snap at him. "Are you fucking crazy? You have given me a heart attack. What if someone recognize you? What if Xavier saw us? What should I tell my colleagues about you? What should we do now?"
His eyes glittering with amusement as Sylus smirks at my outburst. "Relax, Kitty." His voice is calm and confident. "No one's going to recognize me. As for your colleagues, just tell them I'm a friend of yours, showing me what your work is about. Think of me as a trainee. A one-day-hunter." His grin is cocky as he pulls out his sunglasses we bought together, covering his scarlet eyes.
He can't be serious. My expression shows pure disbelief. But what choice do I have? It's way too late to back out now. I grab the hat from my hunter uniform that lies on a nearby shelve and pull it over Sylus white hair, covering most of it. "You really know how to ruin a guy's style." Sylus teases as he readjusts his hat to fix his hairstyle.
With the sunglasses, my hat and the hunter uniform, he really looks like one of us. This might work after all. "Ok, I will tell them that you are my friend from a different division of another city that wants to help in our investigations. We just need to avoid Xavier at all costs, he will not fall for this again, and he is enough suspicious about you as he already is."
Sylus' eyes flash with anger as I mention Xavier's name. He clenches his jaw, his hands balling into tight fists at his sides. The mere mention of the man's name is enough to make him see red. He takes a step closer to me. "I don't like the way he looks at you." He mutters, his voice low and dangerous.
Sylus pulls me closer to him, his strong arms wrapping around me possessively as he presses his body against mine. I can feel his arousal pressing against me, sending waves of shivers down my spine. His scarlet gaze is intense even hidden behind the sunglasses.
