Sylus continues to glare at the now-empty door through which my ex has just exited. Now that we are alone, sitting close to each other, without the risk to be uncovered any second, I can myself allow to relax a little.

I know that the situation with Xavier must have been hard to endure for Sylus. "I am sorry, for calling you just a friend. And that you had to play indifferent as Xavier tried to make his move on me. It must have been awful for you." I snuggle against him, seeking his warmth.

Sylus pulls me closer, wrapping me in his arms like a protective cloak as I cuddle against him. He nuzzles his face against my hair, and I feel the tension in his body releasing a bit as he breathes in my scent.

My apology brings a flicker of softness to his expression. His voice is low as he speaks. "If you had called me your 'bestie' one more time, I would have torn your ex to pieces right there. So yes, it was awful for me." He slightly slides the sunglasses down his nose to lock eyes with me, his scarlet gaze burning into mine. "But it's okay, kitten. I understand." Then, his lips meet mine in a passionate kiss, his hands cupping my cheeks.

We kiss for a while, as someone clears his throat before us, we part, and for one second, I fear that Xavier did come back. But it's the friendly waiter standing before us with his block in hand. "Sorry, do you guys want to order another round of cake or coffee?" Sylus and I look at each other, a big grin crosses his face. "Yes, can you bring us one piece of each cake you serve, please?"

We play another round kitty cards and share each piece of cake the kitty café has to offer. At first, I am embarrassed as Sylus wants to feed me the cake, but soon I enjoy our date to it fullest. We giggle and laugh messing around. And each cake is absolutely delicious.

This time, I actually have a chance against Sylus and I beat him from time to time. Sometimes, he even offers a deal to exchange cards and every time my hand is better than it was before.

After he beats me in a special close match of kitty cards, I dip my forefinger in the icing of one cake and smear it on his nose. "Revenge of the kitty card goddess!" Sylus just chuckles, wiping the icing from his face and licking his fingers. "Mmmm... tasty."

His gaze never leaves mine and I am captivated by his cheerful expression. That's why I don't notice that he himself dips his fingers in the icing, smearing it gently on my bottom lip. "Try it."

Then he leans in to kiss me, his tongue sliding across my bottom lip, pushing smoothly against my mouth. As I open my lips, my mouth is filled with the sweet flavor of the icing and Sylus delicious taste. Its hard not to moan, but I am aware that we are not alone in the café. "Mmm... That was even more delicious now." Sylus purrs as he withdraws slightly, his eyes sparkle like rubies.

I feel my cheeks blush, and because we are in the café right now, I try to change the subject. "Sylus, can we talk about the memory you showed me earlier today? What's your side of the story."

Sylus expression turns from playful to serious in a second. "Sure. I did see what you see, but I remember only my version of the past." But then a hint of a smile plays at the corner of his lips, as he recalls the memory of our first meeting.

"The little girl hurled herself at me wanting to be my friend at any cost. She was so brave and the first human who was not scared of me. It really caught me off guard." He chuckles happily as he recalls his feelings from the past. "You know, I was scared to death that day."

Then his gaze is clouded by hurt as he recalls the reason for him being at the laboratory in the first place. "You already know I am a Nephilim, half angel, half human." He pauses to look at me and continues as I slightly nod.

"What it meant was that I had no place to belong to. Not in heaven, nor on the earth. That's a long story, but to make it short: I was a freak, a monster, for everyone and on the run my entire life. I was captured because of my powers and taken to the laboratory. They wanted to study me, to understand what made me different from others."

He pauses for a moment, his jaw clenching as painful memories surface. With a deep breath, he continues. "But it was more than just human curiosity. They wanted to control me, to use me. And the experiments they performed were... painful, to say the least. These scientists were monsters."

"That's awful...!" I gasp in pure shock, my eyes wide in horror. I gently touch his cheek, as I see the hurt expression crossing his face. The pain almost too much to bear. "But you are so powerful, how could they do this to you."

"My abilities as a kid were not as powerful as now, so I could not really defend myself. And no one did, until I met you. Being caught by them was the worst and best thing in my life. Because there I met you."

"I want to understand it more. Can you show me the next memory?" Sylus smile is bitter. "Yes, but it will not be pleasant to watch. Do you want to go now? We should be alone for that kind of thing."

"I know a place where we can be alone at that time." I look at my watch. Sylus pays the bill with his black credit card offering a huge tip. With a big grin the waiter waves goodbye as we leave the kitty café. We were playing and eating cake the whole day. In the meantime, the sun is setting as we drive with Lily to the Linkon City Park.

"Whenever I wanted to be alone, I used this as my hiding spot." I say to Sylus as I lead him hand in hand through the park. The setting sun is capturing the whole park in an orange light, the sight is beautiful. After walking on the track a while, I cross the field and we enter a little forest, there we climb a hill. Hidden between bushes and trees is an old wooden bench, facing Linkon City.

On the way here, Sylus was disturbing silent, lost in his thoughts. Now we sit on the bench for a while, holding hands as we watch the sunset. "Is everything okay, Sylus?" Finally, I break the silence, squeezing his hand while my worried gaze lingers on his features. He looks tired, but also happy.

"It's nothing, Kitten. It's just... our date... it felt like a dream come true." He looks at me and his eyes are filled with pure love. "I am really lucky... but normally I can't trust my luck. My entire life felt like fate does not allow me to be happy."

My heart aches at his words, tears welling up in my eyes. I wrap my arms around his broad shoulders, my head resting on his chest as I listen to his rapid heartbeat. "From now on, I will give you all of my luck." I say, my voice is laced with the tears that start running down my cheeks.

Sylus chuckles at my attempt to comfort him while I sniffle. "You know, I am not used to be comforted like this. Don't cry, Kitten." He hugs me tightly, and we sit there for some time not moving at all.

"So, are you ready for our past, little Kitten?" He strokes my hair, waiting for my answer. "Yes. Show it to me, please." Then he gently places his fingers on my forehead and I feel a shift in my body, as I dive into the next memory.
