finding out that her parents think you're just her friend (requested)

"This is such a delicious meal." You kindly complimented as you looked across the table at Momo's parents.

"Oh, thank you, Y/N!" Her mom grinned. "You are very sweet."

You chuckled despite how incredibly anxious you were feeling.

Your palms were sweating and your heart was beating faster than usual because this is the first time you're meeting your girlfriend's parents and you feel a lot of pressure and nerves from the situation.

But you think it's going well so far.

They seem to like you and they're very kind and talkative, helping you to loosen up and calm down a little.

"So, Y/N," Momo's dad said as he finished taking a drink of his water. "Are you dating anyone?"

At first, you were very taken aback by the question.

You're sure he noticed since your eyebrows furrowed in confusion and you parted your lips to speak only to stop as you tried to process the question.

But then, you giggled a little because that had to be a joke of some sort, right?

He had to be kidding or messing around and you just didn't understand it completely... because why in the world was he asking you, his daughter's girlfriend, if she was dating anyone?

But you stopped giggling when you noticed that he was looking confused.

"I-I'm sorry?"

"Dating. Are you dating anyone?"

You looked over at Momo, who looked guilty as your eyes locked for a split second.

"Yeah, I am. I mean... isn't that why I'm here?" You asked and the four of you looked at each other, all of you just as equally confused.

"You're here because you're Momo's friend, right?" Her mom asked as she looked between the two of you.

Before you could say a word, Momo tugged at your hand and said,

"Y/N, can I see you for a second? In private. I have to talk to you real quick."

You stood up and followed her down the hall to the guest room before she closed the door behind you both.

"What's happening?" You asked with a look of shock on your face and your voice full of sadness. "You told your parents I'm your friend? I don't understand."

"I just didn't know how to tell them anything different. I mentioned bringing you around to meet them and they assumed you were my friend and I haven't come out to them yet. I didn't know how to bring it up to you because I was afraid you'd think badly of me."

You sat down on the bed as a rush of many emotions came over you.

"I'm sorry, Y/N. It's not that I don't ever plan on telling them any different or that I don't want to. I want to come out to them and I want them to know that you are so much more than just a friend but I'm still trying to get the courage up."

She sat down beside you and took your hand into hers as you looked over at her, your eyes locking immediately.

"On one hand, I do understand where you're coming from. I know it's not easy to come out to anyone, especially to family. I would never rush or push you into that. But it caught me off guard. I thought I was here to meet them as your girlfriend. I thought you'd want to show me off and introduce me to them the same way I did with you to my parents when you met them. Finding out that they think I'm just your friend hurts a little."

She brought your hand to her lips for a kiss as you continued to speak.

"We're so far from being friends. We live together, we sleep in the same bed, we kiss, we hold hands, we do everything together and you don't want to tell your parents that we're together? It makes me feel a little worried."

"You don't need to be worried. Baby, it's not that I'm ashamed of you or our relationship. I am in love with you, I don't want you to think or feel differently. I'm just nervous to come out to them and I thought that this would be the best way to do it, just for now. I swear, it won't be like this for long. I will tell them the truth, I'm just nervous."

"I understand." You said and gave her hand a reassuring squeeze. "I love you, Momo."

"I love you too." She smiled before putting her lips on yours to give you a sweet kiss. "Trust me, baby. With how hard of a time I have with keeping my hands off of you, I'm sure it won't be long before I tell them the truth."

You laughed and wrapped your arms around her neck to pull her closer, causing a hum to leave her lips.

But then, the door opened and her parents stood there with looks of concern on their faces, only for it to turn to shock when they saw you and Momo caught up in a deep, passionate kiss.

You immediately pulled away from her lips and looked over at her parents as Momo chuckled nervously.

"Well... I did say we were very close." She joked before biting her lip.

Looking at you, she took a deep breath before looking back at her parents, knowing that she had to tell them the truth now if they didn't already know or understand.
