❝look closely and listen carefully. the task you are given is very, very important. you are responsible for a soul on earth from now on. you will be protecting them, like your own life depends on it. make sure you do it well, keep them happy and away from any harm.❞
the little stars looked at each other with eyes sparkling in pure excitement. jungsu turned over to his bestfriend, grabbing his wrist, as he let out a small gasp. he didn't know he had been holding his breath the whole time the superior was telling them this and educating them on how to act, what to do, what powers they possessed and so on.
❝i can't believe, we will finally have our humans to protect too!❞ jungsu whisper-yelled, holding tightly now onto both of his friend's hands. the other nodded, being just as excited as jungsu.
was it really appropriate to give such big responsibility to small stars, like jungsu and his best friend were? well, some would say it was not. but on the other hand, that was what stars were made for in the first place, born to guard and show people their way home. ever since very young age, they trained and were simply brought up that way. so, it was okay.
that was the day jungsu met jooyeon for the very first time. when the superior showed him and his bestfriend their assigned humans ⸺ just as little as they themselves were ⸺ to protect. the two boys, down on earth were playing in a playground, running around, their adorable giggles echoing everywhere around them.
it was a warm feeling, just the thought of bestfriends in the sky were going to protect bestfriends on earth made jungsu feel happy.
it was late night and jooyeon was supposed to be asleep, yet jungsu watched him sneak out of his bedroom and walk out on the balcony, looking at the stars, that were displayed so beautifully in the sky that night, being mesmerized at how pretty they were.
jungsu just made sure, the younger was safe and nothing tragic, like him falling down from the balcony would happen and watched how the small boy admired the starry sky.
then, his mother came into the view and that was the first time jooyeon ever asked anything about the stars up in the sky and heard a so called fairytale about them, which his mother retold.
that was the day he first noticed jungsu, as his special, bright star up in the sky. jungsu couldn't have been any happier. the moment jooyeon went to sleep and he made sure the boy was okay, he ran to his bestfriend, calling out his name repeatedly, telling him what had just happened.
❝joo knows i exist!❞ he exclaimed, holding onto the other star's hand, falling on the fluffy cloud, taking him with him so that the two were now lying beside each other.
smiling, ❝it's so cool.❞ the star uttered, turning to the side, watching that bright smile jungsu owned not leaving his lips even for a brief second.
it was not as easy with him, because hyeongjun wasn't told these tales like jooyeon. therefore, he did not even know such a thing existed, nor he seemed to believe in that. but, it was okay.
❝i'm sure hyeongjun will know too.❞ jungsu was quick to assure his bestfriend giving him a tight hug, as the two lay down on the cloud, carrying out their conversation about anything and everything that would come to their minds.
