"All is fair in love and war."

------------------------------------------------------------------

Uttara and Abhimanyu, look like they've been made for eachother. I smile, to myself. Children in love. I hope war doesn't destroy what very little happiness we have. Uttara is a pure, pure soul, a soul that doesn't deserve to be tainted by war. None of my children deserve this. Why does life have to be so merciless?

Krishna walks to me his eyes as if he can see exactly what I'm thinking. "Hi," he says his voice soft, placing his hand on my shoulder.

I shake his hand off "Don't pity me." I tell him.

"Who would pity you Draupadi? Not me. Certainly not. Not when all of our fates are already sealed." he tells me.

"You sealed them yourself didn't you?" I ask him.

He looks as if I caught him off gaurd and then shakes his head "Draupadi, Uttara is very close with your sons have you noticed. I've never seen such a sweet bond, Abhi denies it but-" I cut him off "Don't dare change the topic."

"Draupadi," his voice is almost like a plea. "Krishna," it's supposed to sound like a warning but it sounds more like plea, "I just can't stop feeling like this is the last time I might ever be happy." Krishna looks at me and I look at him. His eyes are glassy with unshed tears and I'm pretty sure my eyes look like that too.

"Make me laugh you doofus, you can't let me cry." I tell him.

I can't let Krishna cry because of me. Not ever. He doesn't deserve this either. That's the cruelty of life. Most of us don't deserve what happens to us. Why did the creator have to be so cruel?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Uttara looks beautiful in her soft red and gold silks. It is a beautiful contrast to her skin and her beauty is balanced only by the three moles shaped like a triangle on chin. Such a natural beauty. Uttara is made more beautiful by love only. I meet her eyes in the mirror and she flashes a huge smile. Her melancholy eyes meeting mine.

"I may not be blessed enough to have you as my daughter, but god made life fair by making you my daughter-in-law." I whisper to her.

She blushes. Such a sweet girl. Uttar walks in to see his sister. I move away giving them privacy. They both talk and I'm reminded of me and Dhri. Hadn't I been in the same position those many years ago?

Uttara's mother, Sudheshna stands next to me, her face showing that she's so proud and so happy for her daughter. Subhadhra comes next to me and her face is filled with joy. "Sister, I'm so excited." she whispers in my ear and it takes all of me not to turn around and squeal in joy becuase my dear Abhi is getting married.

I walk Uttara to the altar and Abhimanyu blushes just at the sight of her. The priest conducts the marriage procedures and the magalsutra is tied aroungd her neck. Vermillion is filled in her hairline and the chudamani is placed. Abhimanyu and Uttara, the match made in heaven.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The wedding is over and there is nothing more to do for the day. The air is filled with comfort. My husbands are talking with Virata, Subhadra to Sudheshna and my sons tease Uttara and Abhimanyu.

Krishna stands next to me whistling. I glare at him "What?" he asks innocently.

"Stop that ridiculously annoying tune. Your giving me a migraine." I scowl at him.

"God, can't a man just be in peace."

I look at him and he looks at me and we burst into peals of laughter for no apparent reason at all. This is what I live for. The moments that make me feel. Feel things I though I would never feel after what happened. Joy. Love. Content.
