“How did they find me? How did they know?” Harlley asked. We were detained inside a room with only a table and three chairs.
“It’s the defense probably. They were able to pin point you.” I’m actually not in the mood to talk.
‘Send me your thoughts.’ I looked at Harlley who immediately knodded at me.
“I can’t do that.” I whispered.
‘Yes you can. Think of what you want to tell me, as simple as that.’
And so I think of what Jaray said about the system especially prepared for this event. I didn’t have time to unthink of Jaray being a Council member and so Harlley knew about it. He didn’t seem to care.
The door opened and the elderly Intel guy came with two guards.
“I wish to talk to Mr. Castor.” The elder said and they took Harlley out and closed the door behind them. He sat on a chair opposite to me, it just feels different sitting in front of this elder around this small table. The wrinkles and sleepy aura he had is magnified to a thousand times! Wew. I don’t know how will I manage to speak without being distracted at how old he looks.
“How long have you known him?” He started.
“When I was detained in Fatals last school year.”
“How long?”
“Do I have to site the exact date Sir? I’m sorry but probably almost a year now.”
He stopped and I can’t help but worry if he’s still breathing or not, “He’s a fugitive, you know that? He’s been wanted for being accused of killing his own tribe.”
“He’s nothing but a D5-survivor to me.”
“What makes you think of that, Mr. Castor?”
“He told me everything.”
“No, he didn’t.” He followed immediately, “’Coz if he did, you wouldn’t be befriending him.”
“How can I be so sure Sir that your accusations are right and the government isn’t just showing a man to throw the blames upon?”
He considers my question for a moment and I’m quite surprised that this talk isn’t very much like the one inside his office, like how can I throw questions to him?
“He was there when his tribe was attacked.”
“And you accused him of murdering a whole tribe right then and there? Just like what you did to Alvis? Look, Alvis’ new village was attacked again and I don’t know if he survives again. If only you would help in keeping these survivors safe, there won’t be much of these attacks.” I reasoned out. I don’t know how protecting the likes of me will help but I just can’t think of the right words to say. Odd.
“This guy’s story is different.” He said calmly inspite of the agitated me, “He confessed that he aided Bloodwind.”
The words fell on me like hard steels.
“I can’t believe you Sir.”
