I'm BACK!

Gem refreshed her email for what felt like the hundredth time that hour, her vision beginning to blur around the edges. She sat on the edge of her bed, the glow from her phone lighting up her small dorm room. She was exhausted, but she was supposed to get her responses today, but they hadn’t come yet. She was in her last year of college for business, and she’d applied for a bunch of internships over the last month, and this was the last day she could get any acceptances. She yawned tiredly and laid back in her bed, shutting off her phone in defeat. Gem placed her phone on her bedside table, vowing to check tomorrow.

As she closed her eyes, her phone buzzed with a notification, and she shot out of bed. She grabbed her phone and fumbled with it for a few seconds before she managed to type in her password and open her email. She had one unread email, and she opened it frantically. She began to read, not even checking who the email was from.

Dear Gemintay MC,
We hope this message finds you well. We have reviewed your application, and though you have a lack of experience and knowledge, we have decided to accept your application. Please see my associate Grian for an in person meeting on April 5th (next Wednesday) at 7:00 PM at our main office for an in person interview. We look forward to meeting you,

Impulse SV,
Head of the Ghost Huntin’ Corporation.

Gem read it over in disbelief, of all the small businesses in the city she’d applied to. The only one who wanted her was the ghost hunting one. She sighed, it was Monday, so she had two days to make up her mind. Also, who in their right mind hosted an internship interview at seven PM? She decided that they were crazy, but seeing as she had no other choices. . . Gem decided to meet up with the guy called ‘Grian’ on Wednesday.

*****

Gem walked towards a large building in the industrial side of town, humming slightly as she headed towards the given address and looked around for a front door. As she passed the back of the building, she saw a few trucks labeled in flamboyant writing and small cartoon drawings of ghosts. They had the companies name and a slogan on the side of the truck;

The Ghost Huntin’ Corporation
When the Ghoulie Ghosties come out to play,
Pay us to make them go away!

Gem rolled her eyes at the slogan and turned around to finally see a door. She walked up and tentatively knocked on the door, not knowing what would happen next. After a few seconds, there was a loud crash, a british sounding shout, followed by a pitchy voice squabbling with the british one.

“Shut up!” This was followed by a round of laughter.

“You’ll speak when spoken to!” The British voice mocked.

“You stop it!” The ‘shut up’ voice said.

“Guys the intern’s here!”

The chaos stopped, and the door swung open, revealing a short, dirty, blond haired guy with brown eyes and a red sweater.

“Welcome to The Ghost Huntin’ Corporation, how can we help you?” He asked in a bored voice, his British accent still making it sound pleasant.

“Hello, I'm here for the interview?” Gem said, pulling up her phone and looking at the name Impulse had sent her. “With Grian?”
