The next batch of students walked up to the front, looking nervous. Sumedh stood silently, his gaze sharp as they approached.
Without a word, he slapped four of them who couldn't write the correct answer, one after the other, and then coldly said, "20 sit ups."
The students flinched at the force of the slaps, their faces showing a mix of shock and fear. They began to move into position for the punishment, but before they could start, one of their friends, unable to hold back, stood up and spoke.
"Sir, aapne Himani ko to koi punishment nahi di," he said, his voice laced with confusion and protest.
"Tum apna kaam karo," Sumedh replied, his tone hard, cutting off any further objection.
"Sir aap partiality kar rhe ho," he continued, his voice gaining a hint of defiance.
Sumedh turned towards him, his eyes narrowing in irritation. "She is not well," he stated simply, making no further explanation.
"Even Kartik is not well, sir," he pointed out, gesturing towards one of the boys who had been standing in the line.
Sumedh ignored him, his focus back on the group in front of him. He didn't have time for distractions. He locked his gaze on the others and asked, his voice cold and commanding the new batch of students, "Tum charo ka huwa?"
Sumedh extended a marker towards him, his expression stern and unwavering. "Come here."
Kartik's friend hesitated, his eyes darting around nervously before stepping forward and reluctantly taking the marker from Sumedh's hand.
Sumedh's gaze was sharp, his tone firm as he handed him the question. "Aur charo side ho jayo.. bahut solve kar liya."
The group reluctantly stepped aside, with the boy quickly moving to the board, his concentration evident as he solved the question. The classroom's tension was palpable.
Once he finished, Sumedh gave a small nod, "Seat par jao aur muh bandh krke baitho." He sighed, the weight of the situation clearly wearing on him. Looking at the others, his tone hardened. "Khade ho tum sab abhi tak? Sit ups start karo jaldi."
The students shifted uncomfortably, but there was no escape from the punishment.
Kartik's friend, unable to keep quiet any longer, voiced his frustration. "Sir ye galat hai. Why does she get the special treatment?" His words echoed in the classroom, challenging Sumedh's authority.
