"Mujhe ghar jaane mein time lagega... Siddharth ko bol du ki drop kar de tumhe?" Sumedh asked, his tone calm but firm as he glanced at Himani.

Himani hesitated, biting her lower lip as she tried to decide how to respond. The memory of the drama that had unfolded in the class earlier—Siddharth in a squat position, arms trembling under the weight of his bag—flashed vividly in her mind. Her stomach twisted at the thought of involving Siddharth after what he'd been through. But the idea of walking home alone filled her with even more dread.

Her heart pounded in her chest as she sighed, feeling a mix of anxiety and determination. "Okay sir," she said quietly, her voice laced with uncertainty, almost as if seeking reassurance from Sumedh.

Sumedh nodded, his expression softening. "Theek hai," he said, pulling out his phone.

Himani watched nervously as Sumedh dialed Siddharth's number, her fingers fidgeting with the edge of her notebook.

"Ji?" Siddharth's voice came through the phone, sounding tired, his exhaustion evident even in that single syllable.

"Sun," Sumedh started, his voice casual, unaware of the turmoil Siddharth had endured earlier in the day. "Thodi help chahiye. Main class mein fasa hua hoon... aur Himani akele ghar nahi jaana chahti. Tu chhod aa."

There was a pause on the other end of the line. Siddharth's grip tightened on his phone as he processed Sumedh's words. The fatigue in his body felt heavier, and the memory of the punishment still lingered like a dull ache in his arms and legs. His jaw clenched momentarily.

"Sorry... mujhe padhna hai. Main nahi jaa sakta," Siddharth said quickly, his voice curt and final, before Sumedh could respond. The line went dead with a soft beep.

Sumedh blinked in surprise, the phone still pressed to his ear. He frowned slightly and immediately dialed Siddharth again, but the call went unanswered. His jaw tightened as he stared at the phone, irritation flickering across his face. "Ye kya bachpana hai?" he muttered under his breath, shaking his head.

Letting out a deep sigh, he decided not to waste time pondering Siddharth's unusual behavior. Instead, he quickly scrolled through his contacts and called Abhishek.

"Abhishek," Sumedh said the moment the call connected, his tone straight to the point. "Thoda kaam hai. Himani ko ghar drop karna padega. Main yaha se nahi nikal paunga."

"Tu tension mat le, main dekh lunga," Abhishek assured without any hesitation. Sumedh felt a small wave of relief.

"Thanks, Bhai. Bahut badi help ho jayegi," Sumedh said before disconnecting.
