"Shut up.. kya lag rha hai time kam hai to punishment nahi milegi?" Sumedh said sternly.
"Thank you, sir," Himani muttered and quietly sat down at her seat.
"Sir.. kal pakka complete karke aayenge.. please sir.. last chance," the other students begged.
"Roz roz ka last chance nahi hota," he replied angrily.
"Sorry, sir," they said together, their voices filled with remorse.
He approached the first student and raised the scale. The student winced, anticipating the sting. Sumedh's hand came down, delivering a sharp smack on the palm. "This is your last warning. Next time, it will be worse."
As Sumedh approached Ruhi, Siddharth's eyes were on her. She stood there, her head slightly bowed, trying to appear brave, but Siddharth could see the fear and anxiety in her eyes. When Sumedh delivered the punishment, Ruhi winced but didn't cry out. She bit her lip and blinked rapidly, trying to hold back her tears.
Siddharth's face remained expressionless, but inside, a storm of emotions was brewing. He felt a pang of guilt and helplessness. He noticed every flinch, every shiver, and it tore at him. He wanted to reach out, to say something, to do something, but he stayed silent, rooted to his spot.
Ruhi quickly composed herself and went back to her seat, avoiding everyone's gaze. Siddharth watched her, his mind racing. He realized that her suffering was affecting him more than he wanted to admit.
As the class continued, he kept glancing at her, his heart heavy with guilt and concern, knowing he had to find a way to help her, even if it meant stepping out of his comfort zone. The next few students received similar treatment, each one wincing and apologizing profusely as Sumedh moved down the line.
When he reached the end, he looked at all of them and said, "Remember this the next time you think about not doing your homework. Now, go back to your seats and finish the work you have been assigned."
The students, rubbing their sore hands, nodded and quickly returned to their seats. Everyone looked at Sumedh and Himani to see if he would punish her or not. She looked at everyone awkwardly and then looked down to avoid their gaze.
Sumedh walked to Himani, his face stern and unyielding. "Stand up, Himani," he commanded, his voice sharp and authoritative.
She stood up, still looking down, her body tense with anticipation.
"Extend your hand," he ordered, showing the tip of the scale.
Hesitantly, she extended her hand. Sumedh thrashed her twice with the same intensity as the others. She muttered a soft "Sorry" as the blows landed, tightly pressing her lips to keep from crying, but her eyes filled with tears.
Sumedh looked around the class, his gaze cold and unrelenting. "Kal sabka homework poora chahiye mujhe," he ordered, his voice echoing in the silent classroom. "If anyone fails again, the consequences will be severe." With that, he turned and left the class, leaving a heavy, oppressive silence in his wake.
The students felt a wave of relief as Sumedh exited the room, but the atmosphere remained tense and somber. Himani, still holding her sore hand, sat down silently. The weight of the punishment hung over the room, a stark reminder of the consequences of failing to meet expectations.

In the lecture before lunch break, a student knocked on the door. The student opened it slightly and said, "Hello sir, Sumedh sir Himani aur Rohan ko staff room mein bula rahe hain."
