Sumedh entered the room with a concerned look on his face, his eyes softening as he noticed her unease. "Are you okay? Sid keh rha tha tum bahut roo rhi thi."
Himani quickly wiped a tear from her eye, trying to force a smile, but her voice quivered with vulnerability. "I'm... I'm okay. Aap gussa to nahi hain na? I don't know unhone wo photo kab li, aur usme unhe aisa kuch kyu laga. Sach mein... main blush nahi kar rhi thi."
Sumedh's brows furrowed, confusion crossing his face. "Main gussa kyu hone laga bhala?" He leaned closer, his tone gentle yet firm.
Himani's hands fidgeted in her lap, her heart racing as she avoided his gaze. "I mean... aap... aap please kuch galat mat sochiyega..."
Seeing her discomfort, Sumedh immediately softened. He moved closer, sitting down in front of her, his hands gently cupping her face, his thumb lightly brushing against her skin in a soothing gesture. "Love... I know... I trust you."
Her eyes welled up with a mix of relief and doubt, her voice barely above a whisper. "Pakka na? Aap gussa nahi hain na?" She searched his face for any sign of judgment.
"Bilkul nahi meri jaan... Waise mujhe gussa kis baat par hona chahiye?" Sumedh asked, his voice tender and reassuring, as he gently cupped her face.
Himani's eyes started to well up again, her voice wavering as she spoke. "I don't know... shayad... sir ke saath aisi photo aayi... ya... ya... sabko aisa laga main blush kar rahi thi..." Her hands nervously twisted the edge of her dupatta.
Sumedh sighed, a soft smile tugging at the corners of his lips. He leaned closer, his gaze unwavering. "Abhi jaha tha, waha to main bhi tha... aur blush kiya hoga... raha hoga koi reason." His voice was calm, understanding.
Himani shook her head gently, her face flushed with embarrassment. "Nahi... maine nahi kiya blush..." she whispered, looking down at her hands, avoiding his eyes. "Aisa vaisa kuch nahi tha."
Sumedh leaned back slightly, trying to hold her gaze, his expression soft yet firm. "Okay, okay... Maan liya nahi kiya hoga... aur un baccho ki baat sun kar main hum dono ka relationship kyun khatam karu? Tum par gussa kyun karu?" He held her hands, his tone filled with reassurance.
Himani sniffed, her voice trembling. "Sach mein na? Gussa hain to daant lijiye," she said, almost pleading with him to understand.
He smiled, a gentle laugh escaping him, and brushed a strand of her hair away from her face. "Gussa hone ka koi reason hi nahi hai," he said softly, his thumb gently caressing her hand.
"Aur ek kaam karna... aaj Abhi ne apne comfort zone se bahar nikal kar tumhari help ki hai... I mean, uss baccho ko punish kiya hai. Hopefully, aage se koi kuch nahi kahega... to kal unke liye kuch acha bana dena lunch mein. Waise bhi, ghar ka khana naseeb nahi hota unhe zyada," Sumedh said, his voice softening with a hint of appreciation, his eyes warm as he looked at her.
Himani, wiping the last of her tears, looked at him, her eyes still glistening but filled with gratitude. "Ji... kya banaun? Kya pasand hai unhe?" she asked, her voice shaky but filled with determination, wanting to make everything right.
Sumedh smiled, a little more playful now, as he listed a few dishes. "Theek hai... main subah bana dungi," Himani responded, her lips curling into a small, reassuring smile. But then, her face grew serious again, and she spoke more softly, almost like a whisper. "Ummm... aur... shayad hume ab bahar ghoomne nahi jaana chahiye... it's... it's not safe," she said, her eyes casting down, her shoulders slightly slumped as a feeling of unease washed over her.
